I'm looking for a song that was aired on French pop radios around
1988-1991. It sure sounded african (percussions, voicings, language).
All I remember is the chorus tune (see transcription below), and
lyrics, which went something like that;
"Casamantse-ah, Oh, Casamantse
Casamantse-ah, Casamantsa"
(the "ts" are just to give an idea of the phonetics, I guess it's all
written with a "c" instead).
A friend of mine told me it was a song by Toure Kunda, who were fairly
known in France, but was unable to give me a song name.
I haven't been able to find it in iTunes nor youtube, and I suspect it
was the only african band name me friend knew, so I don't rely too
much on his clue... :o)
Does anyone know better?
Here is how the sentences above sounded (I'm not familiar with music
notation on usenet, let's say each note lasts one eighth, except when
followed by dashes which add one eight each):
6/4
-A B C2-- B A---- A- G E G- F----- -A B C-- B G----
E2 D2 C2-- A----
Ca sa man-- ce a---- Oh- Ca sa man- ce----- Ca sa man-- ce a---- Ca sa
man-- sa
Hope this doesn't get mangled by the font (I use goggle groups to post
and have very limited formatting and no preview support).
If anyone is able to identify this song, I'd be very glad.
Thanks in advance.

is it maybe the song
"Casa di Mansa" on a CD "The Best of Toure Kunda"?

Hello Achim, and thank you for your reply.
Unfortunately, I listened to the song, and it's not the one I'm
looking for.
The question is still open :o)
