not sure about higher bs, but I know it helps stealth more than intelect
does, not a great amount but does help more.

It does raise your stealth as well as a few other secondary skills as well
as invisble AC, so in turn it raises your bs, maybe 1 damage per 5 or so,
strickly because it raises ya stealth and that is 1 of the major components
of the damage calculation of a backstab. This would apply for all classes
that have stealth.

Would charm help a level 22 dwarf/paladin?

In my opinion charm helps out just about all chars,, even a paladin if you
are out of things to put stats on .. they are nice.. your crits would go
up becaiuse martial arts goes up... and from what I have tried it also
affects how much your spells succeed because it is a luck based stat.. it
aint as powerful as any ONE stat but it does a little bit on each stat so
its cool.

I BSed higher,
I almost had an unlimited sneak,
I got 6 attacks at lvl 11 with a runecarved staff (none encumb),
i didnt get hit as often.

I really do believe charm helps everything, so go ahead and put the first
ten pts on. What the hell over the long run you will not miss 10 cps.

Out of my 2 chars, a mystic and a ranger, one has higher charm and i
definitely notice that the one w/higher charm gets hit w/less
frequency. Also, as Brad pointed out, charm adds to invisible AC in
this manner. Even the authors of the game explain in grand detail the
signifigance of having higher levels of charm than is ordinary.

Both my chars have decent charm and both are high dammage when it comes
to BS's. Mite be a good example of what do with a spare 1 CP when ya
level :)

Well, one thing good about charm, for sure! If you like to travel in a
group, and you are not as tough as the others, get some charm. Critters
are much nicer when it comes to hitting 'charming' folks. My 57 charm,
level 27 priest likes to wander around with ugly ol' Flipper, a sad and
ugly level 23 druid, and even when he is backrank, as he usually is,
(heheh) I am constantly healing the poor slob. But he's an excellent
pack mule! ;)

<nod> We tested it out by rerolling bunches on our board. Charm
increased Stealth, Lockpicks, thievery even!, and martial arts. Level 1
warrior with 75 charm had a martial arts of 10 (I'm used to 2 or 4).

Another thing too, we did the bard bug to one of our ninjas, and
discovered his Martial Arts/Tracking/Stealth went up with Wisdom! Noone
ever mentions this on here. Wisdom is worth more than just Magic Resist

Well, first you need a bard with songs to increase and decrease a
specific stat (strength,intellect,wisdom,agility).

Have the bard sing the song to decrease the stat, then sing the song
to increase the stat. What will happen is the decrease song will drop
that stat 5 points and the increase stat will raise it 10 points. If
you look at your stats after this, you will see that the stat is red
and has a * beside it, indicating that the change is temporary, but
because of the bug, the stat never returns to normal. Keep singing the
songs and the stat will slowly increase to whatever you want.

Ack! That doesn't work on my board!! Whenever I down the stat by 5 and
up it, it just balances out. Any suggestions?

I'm running 1.1f now and the bard bug works fine. When you cast weak on
someone, it says to them "you feel weak", when you then cast mite on
them, it will tell them "you return to normal" ...altho it says you are
normal, your stats will be red with an asterisk next to them and will
remain that way.

Heh, btw, I do not think the Bard Bug is cheating..hell, it added some
enjoyment to the game! Since any gang can have a bard in it and up him
to Lev 8 (8 is needed to do all 4 possible stats), it's somewhat fair.
And any bard with the right spells can chase around a 'bugged' character
and force a stat to 115 (especially easy if they are already at 110)
makeing them reset next time they log off. Hehehe, makes for an
interesting match when my gang fights another and their characters are
running from me cuz I'm a bard <eg> while we hope to chase theirs down
before he gets us ;) I hate rebugging someone back up to max stats, so
we're rather emphatic about not lettin another bard get to lev 8.
Anyway, my 2 cents. I like the Bard Bug...it's fun

Chiv Lev 8 Bard
Riven Lev 7 Cleric..and growing

Ok, thanks alot for the info!! When I get mite cast on me, it says, "You feel
powerful!" and when I get weakness cast on me it says "You feel weak!" (or something
like that) When the bard tries to cast weakness on me again he can never do it. He is
level 13 with a good charm (Like 70 I think). Does he just suck or is it impossible?

stop where you are! hehehe, our so called 'ninja' needs glasses. Dang
I forgot I put that message there or I would have responded sooner. The
nimrod hadn't realized I'd upped his agility also and got it wrong.
Wisdom is exactly what it always has been...magic res only. My
apologies to anyone who upped their wisdom becuz of that message.
