*** I can't help with Assembly(*) but can suggest:
Look for a similar used model with a working screen.
Try eBay or your local laptop store.
Look for a newer model.
I run a 1999 HP Pavilion laptop and it is fine for
DOS. A newer model will have more memory, faster processor
and hard drive, plus will have a better screen. As well,
it will likely have a CD-ROM drive and USB ports. Best of all
one can get such models for a song today.
