I made a Dos 6.22 network bootdisk with IP and DHCP. I want to check
if a network connection could has been established. Are there the
above called tools available for a pure dos enviroment? Because the
Win9x and WinNT/2k doesnt work.

Ping and IPconfig exist on disk 2 which is around 275KB, but they have
to be decompressed using expand or extract.
Disk 1 has the full setup for both disks and is about 850KB.

Tracert, if you need it, exists in the WFW TCP/IP upgrade, but I've
never tested it on a DOS diskette.

Replace "W" with "L"
Tracert works in DOS, I just tried it.

Your mouse has moved. Reboot computer for changes to take effect.
Which one did you use?
This one:
TRACERT EXE 55.277 26-05-95 10.57
1 file(s) 55.277 bytes
I'm not quite sure where it came from, but I had it for a
long time before I discovered it. It must have came with
the other network commands, ipconfig, ping...
Curiously, the one in here,
ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/peropsys/windows/public/tcpip/wfwt32.exe
is this one:
TRACERT EXE 53.935 21-11-94 3.00
1 file(s) 53.935 bytes
Which also works in DOS.

Interesting. MS usually uses the time stamp to indicate version
number. No MS operating system was released during March of '95
either, and the wfwt32 should have to latest files for WFW.
Hmmm. Could this be a utility from your dial-up software? I'm
assuming that you use a third-party dialer, and mid-'95 seems logical
for a Win3.x dialer to be released.
Have you looked at it with a Hex editor? Perhaps a clue lies near the
header?

Thanks again,
The month shown "05" is MAY. It could be an OEM strain of the original Win
95.
Check out the file dates in this download...

exe
TRACERT.EXE is not among the files, but the time stamps are March 23, 1995.

Ahh, now I know where my version came from:
tcp32b.exe 690031 15-07-99
I got it from MS's ftp site, but I don't have the url handy.
It is readily available elsewhere:

Thanks.
Interesting that the tracert file is dated '95 since TCP32b came out
in '99.
