>How do I capture LPT1 to a network printer in a batch file using Novell?
CAPTURE has many switches and there appear to be variations among the
various Netware versions. One format we use is
capture ti=30 au l=1 nt nff nb nnoti q=queue_name
That translates to TImeout = 30 seconds, AUtoendcap, LPT:1, No Tabs,
No Banner, No NOTIfy, and Queue.
The Novel help feature provides additional details, but getting to it
is site specific (HELP on some of our servers (DOS help has been
renamed)). You can get the simple help screen with CAPTURE /?.
T.E.D. (tda...@gearbox.maem.umr.edu)

somewhere in the body or they will be automatically rejected.
I tried to use this reliably on Netware 4.11 before Win95/98. With
Windows, it won't work because the Windows printer assignments always
take over. If you have Windows *not* connect any printers, it may
work, but the use of the Windows auto-connect for printers is so
common/standard, that I just dropped the use of CAPTURE altogether.
The only thing I miss is being able to redirect via a batch file to a
text file. I can do it now but it's a hassle. Do you remember
PRT2FILE.COM? One of the smallest, greatest programs I ever used. Now,
I just use "Print to File" from within Windows. Instead of CAPTUREing
with batch files, I just set up each printer with an LPT (max 9) and
point the Windows printer to that LPT. It takes a *little* longer on
startup but not much, and it removes *my* need for the CAPTURE anyway.
Do have a situation that won't work with this kind of setup?
Cheers!
