Is there a free utility out there for creating separater icon files from the
icon images embedded in .exe and .dll files and other binaries?

Thanks for any suggestions.

In the same vein, are there utilities for comverting icons to other picture
formats?

Thanks.

Come to think of it, I think any Windows programming development tool will
have a resource editor which with you can create .ICOs. As well, I think it
can extract icons from .DLLs and .EXEs. Do you have a copy of Borland C++ or
MS Visual C++ kicking about?

There are free utilities to do both, but who knows if they will
work in NT?

Thanks for the suggestions.
I've created and edited icons with the Visual Studio (C++) icon editor, but
I didn't know it could extract icons.

The latest issue of PC Magazine includes a utility to do just what you want. It
is called IconJack32 and it runs under 95, 98, NT, and 2000. Try
