I tried about a dozen clock apps for the purpose of this article, and out of those, I found Widgets GO to be the perfect one for adding a clear, nice-looking digital clock widget to the Home Screen. In addition to that, you can also try these free iOS apps to put a digital clock on your iPhone or iPad Home Screen. The top featured image of this article shows widgets from these apps:

That digital clock on the Lock Screen is definitely a great looking widget. While there isn't a way to get that exact clock on your Home Screen, we would recommend that you look into adding widgets to your Home Screen as there may be a third-party widget on the App Store that does what you're looking for.

To start, here is some information about how widgets on your Home Screen work: How to add and edit widgets on your iPhone - Apple Support This feature basically lets you add customizable widgets - such as a clock - to your Home Screen and fully supports third-party developers to create their own apps using this feature. That means that if you pull up the App Store on your iPhone, you should be able to look up something like "digital clock widget" on the App Store and see if there is one there that might suit your needs.

I loved the simplicity of it and i probably don't even use a fraction of what it can do but ...

I had the homescreen organized with just the digital clock and a few apps on the screen and in the bar on the bottom.

When I am using an app or even in setting, instead of the screen going blank when I am not looking at it, the screen fades dim and a digital clock shows in the top right corner. How do I get this to stop and always show the app screen I am looking at. I use fitness apps when working out and I want the info on the screen all the time. Right now it fades in and out of that clock when I raise and lower my arm.

Did you manage to add a digital clock widget on your iPhone or iPad Home Screen? Which app are you using? Do you have a better recommendation than the ones mentioned in this article? Use the comments section and share your feedback.

Thanks for the feedback Steve. There are a multitude of apps providing clock widgets for iPhone and iPad Home Screen. I am sure that you will find one that fits your expectations. Drop us a followup when you do and we will add it to the main content of the article!

The Flip Clock app allows you to recreate the minimalist flipping clock screensaver you have seen on social media. More than that, it allows you to add digital clock widgets to your Home Screen that display the current time in hh:mm:ss format.

Alarms clocks and I have a damaged relationship. Friends notice me wince every time I'm watching a movie and a character's alarm blares them awake with all of the subtlety and gentleness of an aircraft carrier slamming into the sun. And don't get me started about how, when I was a kid, my dad would wake me up for school by thrusting the window curtains open as if he were opening the Ark of the Covenant right in my face. Waking up to a sunrise alarm is, by stark contrast, downright pleasant. And if you're like most of us, you need more sleep.

Sunrise alarms simulate gradual sunsets at night and gradual sunrises in the morning to help you fall asleep and wake up more naturally by tricking your biological hardware. I've tested the best sunrise alarm clocks, and a few of the worst. These are my favorites.

Of all the sunrise alarms I tested, this was the best at evenly lighting up a dark room. It's also the only wireless model I tested, so I could start a sunset in the living room and bring it with me into the bedroom later. But it's $130 and doesn't have a clock, a radio, or an audible wake-up buzzer. If you ban your phone from your nightstand every night and need an alarm that can be programmed to scream at you precisely at 6:30 am, you'll need a different sunrise alarm.

After testing some of the more affordable options on this list, I was ready to say I couldn't recommend a $270 alarm clock. But the SmartSleep, formerly known as the Somneo, nailed the basics of what a sunrise alarm should be, then piled on a bunch of customizable features you won't find on other devices. First off, the light spreads over the walls like warm butter. It's somewhat directional, but the hole in the middle and convex shape casts light at wider angles than other directional alarms. The light quality is slightly ahead of the other premium alarms on this list, and you can select from four light profiles.

The Zenergy has the most relaxing sounds before bed and when waking up in the morning. There are 15(!) of them. Some sounds, like those they call Heartbeat and Trance, remind me of science fiction films like Event Horizon, but most of them are more natural and offer a very calming effect. Storm, Chimes, and River are my favorites. There's also a guided breathing exercise where a voice instructs you when to take in breaths, hold them, and release them over a soothing track in the background, and it gets me in the mood for bed every time. The see-through cloth cover allows the digital clock and menu items to shine through while hiding unlit display settings that aren't in use. A premium touch.

The Lexon Mina might only cost $30, but I wish Lexon hadn't chosen to give it a rechargeable battery rather than just let the user plug it into a wall socket. A bedside alarm clock is not something that needs to work wirelessly. It never moves, so that was a baffling design decision. It lasts for about 12 hours on a charge, which is more than enough for a night's sleep, but it was annoying have to recharge it constantly. The included cable was a USB-C to USB-A, with the USB-C side plugging into the lamp itself, so you may need an adapter or a new cable to charge it. The lamp was also very dim on its brightest setting.

With Apple's newest iOS software update, you can turn your iPhone into a smart display that's always on when you're not actively using it. So your iPhone can quickly transform into a bedside clock, digital photo frame, miniature HomePod, Live Activities tracker, widget-monitoring screen, and more.

To activate StandBy mode, you just need to place your iPhone standing up on its side while charging either wirelessly or via a charging cable. It's that simple. When StandBy mode is active, you can interact with Siri using the "Hey Siri" or new "Siri" only wake phrase, asking questions or demanding it to perform actions for you. You can view widgets for any apps that support StandBy, choose photo albums for it to rotate through, or customize any of the built-in StandBy clocks.

You can also change the view from your StandBy widgets to show your photos or a full-screen clock. Swipe left once from the widget screen to show your photos, and swipe left again to open the full-screen clock. In addition to the time, the full-screen clock may also display your next scheduled alarm for reference.

On the full-screen clock view, you can swipe up or down to change which clock style is shown. You can switch between the Analog, Digital, World, Solar, and Float styles. World shows the points on the map for locations listed in your Clock app's "World Clock" section. You can tap on each point to view the city name and time in that zone.

All of the clocks have a color picker except for the World clock. The only way to customize the World full-screen clock is to open your Clock app to the "World Clock" tab and add or subtract cities. These cities will show up as dots on StandBy's World clock.

Clock Widget focuses solely on digital clock faces. It comes with three customizable templates. Pick one, and you can quickly go about changing the text and background color. The app also lets you set custom images as the widget background.

For $0.99/month or $4.99/year, you can unlock widget customization options (different themes for dark and night modes, digital displays, etc.) and the ability to calculate time differences between locations.

As its name implies, Widgetsmith is a widget builder and comes with loads of customization options to create custom clock widgets. If you want a widget that blends well with a specific wallpaper background, for example, Widgetsmith should help you come up with one quickly.

You can start with any widget size (small, medium, or large) and use the various customization options underneath the Time category (location, font, tint color, background color, time format, etc.) to build your own clock widget.

If you love flip clocks, then the appropriately named FlipClock app should help you out. It comes with over ten unique flip clock widget skins. Three of them are free, while the rest should net you $0.99.

Clock Gallery provides a decent library of digital clock widget faces that are simply stunning to look at. Each clock widget (Minimal, Bold Color, Pride, etc.) can be configured with multiple color schemes and font styles.
