I've heard of and recently seen examples of past art/film movements , like
realism, neo-realism, surrealism, etc. Are there any new, defined movements in
film today? modernism? post-modernism?And if so, what defines them as such?

There's a nascent school of neo-retro avant-garde post post-modernism
brewing. The two seminal films of the movement are Gosford Park and
Mulholland Drive.
