An interesting enough thriller, about a killer who stalks young girls - and
could be the nice friendly middle-aged guy across the street.
Stanley Tucci is the villain, George Harvey, and is more successful (with
wig, specs, moustache) than as knifer "Muerte" in "Undercover Blues".
The Salmon family are his target, and it pays not to be too trusting of
strangers, even if seemingly friendly, as they may have a serious kink.
This movie is apparently based on novel of same name, so perhaps the
author is the creator of a kind of Afterlife (Purgatory?) where a girl's
soul can hover about, watching real events, even if unable to fully
influence them.
Thanks to modern techniques, such spiritual realm can be easily presented
by CGI etc. However, the whole plot might have been just as good, or
better, if dealt with as a straight-out detective yarn.
Yes, not a bad movie, even if we may query how a corpse confined in a
locked space doesn't omit any tell-tale odour due to putrefaction, much less
leak.
Does the villain get his just deserts? After all, he has done it all
before.
Susan Sarandon provides some light relief as the eccentric grandma.
Bones? I don't remember seeing any, as such, anywhere in the film, but
we get the general idea.
