I basically want to know what people think of movie web sites, using the
following questions. Please feel free to answer any or all of the questions,
and to write anything else you want to. Email replies are preferred. Many
thanks in advance.

Are they a waste of time and money? Which do you think are the best movie
sites? Why?
Is there a particular studio/website designer that is especially good at
movie websites?
If you view them, do you view them before or after you see the movie? If
before, do you think they give too much away? If the site is bad, would that
discourage you from going to watch the film?
What do you think about ‘teaser’ websites; for example www.godzilla.com,
which come out even before shooting has finished? Do they give too much
away? Are they just trying to hype up the film early?
Is it only big box office studios that set up sites, or do smaller
independents do it too?
If independents do have sites, are they different to commercial sites, and
how?
What do you think about third party sites, such as the Internet Movie
Database? (us.imdb.com) Are they useful? Do they influence your movie
watching?
What do you think about movie newsgroups such as this one? Is the content
useful, or just crap?
What do you think about downloads you get from Movies sites, like video
clips and screensavers? Are the files getting too big? Are they any good?

I have bookmarked three or four movie-review websites. There is one in
particular that I like for its thoroughness in providing parents with
reviews. The reviewers actually count the number of nude scenes,
measure the amount of violence, count the number of "f"-words. My
14-year old daughter HATES it.<g>
