Actually, you are mistaken. I saw Titanic again after I read your message and
listened carefully. Lovett's assistant says that Rose had lived in Cedar
Rapids and a few seconds later mentions Cedar Rapids again.
L
Didn't he say the she worked as an actress in New York. Maybe you'rew
right, I'll check the script. You're right, Jack was from Chippewa
Falls.
Anyone here who lives there or has been there?

Did you notice also that he says "but back then she went by Rose Dawson..."
Sorry about the mix-up but I could've sworn it said Chippewa
Falls...guess I was wrong.
On another note...has anyone who's seen the screener seen the slight
differences in some scenes? Like when Cal is asking Jack what made him
think he had the right to put his hands on Rose? In the theatre, his
tone is different. I am sure about this one! :)
Shannon
did you get that from entertainment weekly? i read that there too.

If he was not a fictional character, that would be my argument.

But would he think up a place that didn't exist yet? He's clarivoyant!

Yes, this has been pointed out before, but I guess the people of Chippewa Falls
didn't care; they made Leonardo DiCaprio an honorary citizen and gave him a key
to the city.

At last, someone who paid attention. I've seen this move 9 times now and,
for the life of me, I couldn't figure out what the heck everyone was talking
about... but now I get it.

Chippewa Falls / Cedar Rapids.... potAto / poTAHto...
Actually, the picture of her riding the horse was supposed to be the pier at
Santa Monica. And the head shot was when she was a Hollywood starlet. Not sure
about the plane. Anyway, here's a direct quote from the script.
[[[[ BODINE
She says she's Rose DeWitt Bukater, right? Rose DeWitt Bukater died on the
Titanic. At the age of 17. If she'd've lived, she'd be over a hundred now.
LOVETT
A hundred and one next month.
BODINE
Okay, so she's a very old --- liar. I traced her as far back as the 20's... she
was working as an actress in L.A. An actress. Her name was Rose Dawson. Then
she married a guy named Calvert, moved to Cedar Rapids, had two kids. Now
Calvert's dead, and from what I've heard Cedar Rapids is dead.]]]]
So...Rose lived in Cedar Rapids. Not Chippewa Falls. And she went to Cedar
Rapids after trying her hand at Hollywood. I'm not sure what she did between
the sinking and Hollywood. They don't account for those 8 years.
