Would be no different since it would still be fiction. How about Monica
being pregnant with Bubba's child? That's closer to reality.
Also if she did keep the child, she may well have not married and the
grand-daughter who accompanied her onto the Keldysh would have been Jack's
grand-daughter too.
How would she know this was Jack's baby? After all, she probably slept with
Cal too. Hey, this could be a whole new film!;-)

The only thing "Bubba" (lol) could have gotten pregnant is Monica's dress!!

I am woman, hear me roar......
And how could a young woman in the early part of the century with an
illegitimate child manage to become an actress, learn to fly, ride astride
on the beach and ride on the rollercoaster till she was sick.
I'm not sure this would have fitted in.. it would have made Rose's life sad
and hard instead of joyous and wideranging.
I can't think it would have been at all romantic for Rose to have had Jack's
baby - just difficult.

This has been the subject of earlier discussion and seems a bit of a
contentious point. Personally I think she did sleep with Cal too. That I
think was the import of the scene where he gave her the necklace, and said
he would deny her nothing, if she would not deny him (followed by meaningful
fadeout). Other points which strike me ... they are of course open to
interpretation... Cal's remark +ACI-you are my wife in practice if not yet in
law+ACI- and her lack of apprehension during the scene with jack in the back of
the car. So I tend to agree with Wendy that there would be too much
uncertainty about whose child it was.

What a charming view of maternity. I think rose's achievements wre so
improbable anyway that one might as well add a child.

Then the question would be "Was it Really Jack's, or Lovejoy's?"
Reality? They didn’t have sexual intercourse but you’re probably a
republican since you are calling the president "bubba" but republicans
still believe you can get pregnant from reading Playboy..I guess
you’re still pissed off from the elections so i’ll let it slide this
time...What a TITANIC victory it was for me...YEE HAAA!!!
A good point, being that the lab hasn't returned with the DNA sample yet.
But...
Could she have a child by Cal? As I recall, he presented her with a slightly
valuable piece of jewlery, asking her not to deny him. Please note that
money and love certainly appeared identical in the Hockley family. Later, he
said he hoped she would have come to him the previous night, which she spent
with Jack. Seems like the poor guy took his fiancee on a very expensive
romantic cruise only to have her spend every evening with some homeless bum.
Guess he never got nookie (and sounds like this trip was his first ploy to
try).
Rose did say she never spoke of Jack to anyone, until the present day (of
the movie). She had nothing to remember him by, except the long argued over
"Heart of the Ocean" (although it is also a memory of Cal). This lends to
the theory that she and Jack were not together at the "critical" time of the
month required for making babies (Check a medical NG for details on when to
"do it" if you want kids). It's hard to ignore the question of "who's my
daddy?". My vote is that she didn't get pregnant.
All things being equal, or at least close to it by the ending credits, the
story of Rose and Jack was beautiful fiction in which anything could happen.
Except for one thing. The kid wouldn't be Lovejoys. But being this is
fiction, perhaps (if you've seen the thread on the "director's cut" and the
sequel) Cal's child could be... Yucccchhhh!!!!!!

I think he was referring to love not sex. Remember, 'open your heart
to me, Rose'.

This implied to me that she had come to him many times before because
he was surprised she didn't last night.
