Some more use of hands as symbols/metaphors in Titanic I noticed, enjoy!

1. High tech is shown when Bodine uses the robot's hands to search the safe
underwater.
2. Old Rose strong spirit is shown by her delicate handcrafting of pottery.
3. Young Rose high class posh is shown when she disdainfully streches her
gloved hand as she gets out of the white Renault.
4. Rose reluctance to go to America is shown as Rose is practically pulled
by the hand by Cal as she boards the Titanic.
5. Irony is shown as Jack wins his ticket by a "lucky" hand of poker.
6. Farewells of passengers emphasized by hands waving.
7. Jack's free spirit is shown as he spreads his hands open to the wind.
8. Jack's artistic ability is shown when he is drawing Cora's hands.
9. An invisible barrier between Jack and Rose while they glance at each
other is emphasized by Tommy Ryan waving his hand at Jack's gaze.
10. Jack offers to save Rose from killing herself by offering his hand.
11. When Rose is about to fall by accident, Jack saves her by pulling her
with his hands. "I won't let go, trust me", he assures her.
12. Rose's predicament is shown when she extends her hand as Jack notices
her huge engagement ring. "You would have gone straight to the bottom".
13. Jack's unmorbid interest for art is shown when he it is highlighted
that he is more interested in drawing hands than naked women.
14. Jack pulls Rose by the hand to the edge of the deck so he can teach her
how to "spit like a man."
15. Jack tries to fit in the high class reception by watching and imitating
hand gestures.
16. Jack's gallantry is highlighted by kissing Rose's hand like a scene
from a nickelodeon.
17. Jack's sense of unbelonging to high the highclass is shown by the
arrangement of too many forks and spoons, signifying you have many hands
like an octupus.
18. Jack and Rose dance by holding hands, even spin around. This
emphasizes that a bond has developed between them.
19. The roughness of third class men is shown by arm wrestling (battling
with the hands).
20. Jack again pulls Rose into the gym room by grabbing her hand. It
denotes forcefulness by Jack.
21. Rose notices how she was bought up to be a perfect lady by watching the
girl's dainty hands as the girl sets her napkin on her lap.
22. Rose's liberation and her trust for Jack is shown as she extends her
hands to her sides as the wind blows in her face.
23. Jack's and Rose's hand intermingle while they kiss at the bow.
24. Bodine's anger is emphasized when he says "There's Smith, he's standing
there with the iceberg warning in his fucking hand... excuse me... in his
hand"
25. When Jack tells Rose how to pose, he remarks on her hand's position.
This shows Jack is interested in her hands also, despite that Rose is nude.
26. Jack's artistic ability is again emphasized as we see how his hands
move (actually J.Cameron's) quickly as he sketches the nude Rose.
27. When Jack and Rose hear Lovejoy coming it is Rose's turn to lead Jack
by the hand.
27. When Rose escapes with Jack from Lovejoy's persecution she snubs
Lovejoy with an obscene hand gesture while they go down in the elevator.
28. When Jack and Rose are intimate in the red Renault, Rose kisses Jack's
fingertips, in appreciation of his artistic hands.
29. Rose's sexual initiative is highlighted when she says "Put your hands
on me, Jack"
30. Rose's ecstasy is dramatized when her hand smacks the frosted window
pane of the Renault.
31. Jack's imprisonment is done by handcuffing him. Later, his impotence at
trying to break free is highlighted because he is handcuffed to a pipe of
the Titanic.
32. When Rose is about to cut Jack's handcuffs, Jack instructs Rose to
place her hands a bit apart for more control.
33. Rose frees Jack by cutting the handcuffs.
34. Mr. Andrews last gesture of "fixing" Titanic is by setting the clock's
hand exactly before she sinks.
35. At the stern while the ship is in vertical position, Jack grabs Rose by
the hand and pulls her over the rail (again).
36. When the stern is sinking fast Jack tell Rose to "not let go of my
hand", while kicking to the surface.
37. We feel panicky when underwater, Jack is pulled away from Rose's
gripping hand.
38. Jack and Rose hold their hands tightly while they are freezing in the
water.
39. Rose has to struggle to let go of Jack's frozen hand. "I won't let go,"
she say, in a curiously contradictory way.
40. When Old Rose is climbing the rail again, we see a close up of her old
hands, emphasizing her frialty, but determination.
41. In the final encore scene, Jack hold outs his hand to Rose as she
climbs the staircase.
42. All the passengers who died at the tragegy, give their clapping hands
to Jack and Rose while they kiss.

constant discoveries of the little details - 99% Energy

Good work....! I was amazed the first day after seeing the movie with the use
of this symblolism.

I wonder if the use of "hand" guns by Lovejoy and the deck hands would fit into
the list or are we going over board on this?

Either way I clap my hands for your list

All the actors (well, maybe not all, because I wasn't paying close attention to
this fact) had ears, too. Coincidence? I think not.

Hi, I would also to add:

5. The eloquent use of my hands on myself during Rose's nude scene.

Thank you, I hope y'all agree.
