I was just reading my Jame's Cameron the making of Titanic book, and came
across the pictures of the little girl Cora who was friends with Jack. I can't
recall what happened to her in the movie... does anyone remember? And if she
perished, did they show this in the movie? Thanks.

I just watched the movie for my 4th time night be fore last, it was never
revealed what happened to Cora & was not shown in the movie...

The doll that she carries in the beginning of the movie however was modeled
after the proceline doll face found on the debris field
of the actual wreckage & as seen in the begining of the movie as well.

She probably died. She was a third class child and they didn't fare too well.
Also, many people have interpreted the ending scene to be old Rose dying and
returning to the Grand Staircase as young Rose. Supposedly, all the people who are
there died that night. If you look carefully, you will see Cora and her father
standing in the crowd.

Cora was the girl with the curls, "That's not a boat dad, it's a ship!!" And "You're
still my best girl", (Jack) from the steerage party scene....She died with her
family, I read it in the script...

If you remember, you see Cora's doll's face in the beginning of the movie in
the sand on the ocean bottom.

Yes she did die. In fact, Cameron filmed the scene where Cora drowns.
I have hard that Cameron felt that the scene was too emotion (for him)
so it was cut. But it was filmed.

Yes Cora died..its written in the script..a cut scene...however if you
look at the ending...which is all those who went down with the ship,
Cora is there with her father...she died...you can see her on the upper
balcony with her father, and the only first class child to die as well

Actually, Cora and her family, the Cartmells were fictional passengers in third
class. She would have been among the many children in third class who perished
that night. Non fictionally speaking, the only first class child who died that
night was three year old Lorraine Allison whose entire family( except her baby
brother who was kidnapped by their maid) went down with the ship

That doll was believed to belong to the only first class child who died -
Lorraine Allison. It was a fancy doll, and most likely too expensive
for a third class child.

Here is the scene from the script. When I read this, I just bawled. I can't
imagine what I would have done had I seen this in the movie the first time I
saw it.

255 INT. BELOW DECKS
The flooding is horrific. Walls and doors are splintered like kindling. Water
roars down corridors with pile-driver force.

The CARTMELL FAMILY is at the top of a stairwell, jammed against a locked gate
like Jack and Rose were. Water boils up the stairwell behind them. Bert
Cartmell shakes the gate futilely, shouting for help. Little Cora wails as the
water boils up around them all.

CUT TO: 256 EXT. STERN
Rose and Jack struggle to climb the well decks stairs as the ship tilts. Drunk
Baker Joughin puts a hand squarely on Rose's butt and shoves her up onto the
deck.

(I left this final part in to show another little omission or alteration in the
final film version)

The doll face idea was taken from one of Ballard's dives to the ship - he saw
the doll face in his searchlight and almost fainted, until he realized it was
a doll face.
