Tim Burton Directed Heathers. Please listen to me a second, I just figured
this out. My brother just came home with Heathers on DVD and I was like
"Hey great movie, I haven't seen that in years!" so we watched it. I
started noticing the colors in the film like I didn't before, and that
colorful dark and I realized Thats TIm Burtons style.

At first I mentioned to my brother "This director is trying to copy Tim
Burton." but as I watched I came upon a scene that made me say "This
Director IS Tim Burton." I don't know if this has come up before, I don't
know if what i'm saying is old news, but its new news to me." The scene
specifically was Wynona Rider in a 711 type store talking to christian
slater. And one shot, she has a very white face, a black dress with a white
shirt with grey stripes, and she has a bright red liquorish in her mouth and
she says "Cherry". Right then I said "This is a Tim Burton Film! Stop the
movie!" So I stopped the movie and I ran to my room to get on my computer.
I had to find a connection.

I searched for Michael Lehman. Guess what, the guy NEVER DID ANOTHER
FILM!!! This is the ONLY film this person ever did, there is not even a
single bio or any information on schooling or even training for someone to
burst out with a perfect first film without any mistakes, errors, or
troubles! This guy doesn't exist, and I went to film school, I know when
something is a directors first movie because there are certain mistakes you
find that you only learn through doing it. This movie was a professional
grade film. Now I had to find out How Tim burton would be linked to the film
Heathers, I FOUND IT!

So I went into Hotbot and I searched for " Tim Burton Heathers " and I got
this link! READ IT:
http://www.simmons.edu/new_notable/dinovirelease.html

This woman just happens to have produced Heathers, AND been former partners
with Tim Burton. Coincidence? I swear to God, all I did was look at this
film and I thought THIS IS TIM BURTON!

Now the big question, WHY would Tim Burton hide behind a fake name on a
picture made in 1987??? This would be right when Tim Burton was trying to
get the directing role for Batman. Batman would have to be dark yet
available for all ages. heathers is about highschool students killing kids.
Heathers could have cost him what he needed for future films. He could
never do Nightmare Before Christmas if he was associated with a child
killing film, that would have caused a media fuss on him being appropriate.

I believe, no wait, I Fricken Know (I studied directing styles, and tim
burton has one of the most obvious fingerprints you can see in a film, watch
any of his films then watch heathers and you will see the
shots/colors/style ) Tim Buron directed Heathers!

Airheads wasn't that bad... and I haven't seen Meet the Applegates, but it
looks promising...

Lehmann isn't a creative type of filmmaker, he's a chimp for hire. He does
whatever the suits tell him to. And in this case they wanted a dark comedy
that seemed like it was from "that Beetlejuice guy", most likely. They "DON'T
MATCH" because Lehmann has no real style of his own.

This movie came out in 1989, the same year Batman came out. A movie like
Batman takes a lot of pre-production, and Burton did it quite soon after
Beetlejuice. He wouldn't have had time to do another film.

true. I kinda over-generalized there. I haven't seen Hudson Hawk, but it has
a reputation for being bad. I need to see for myself.

Truth About Cats & Dogs was pretty decent, and Airheads was pretty cool,
especially the fact that Buscemi's in it.

I saw Meet The Applegates a long time ago, and I don't remember much about it,
but I enjoyed it at the time.

And My Giant, oy, its just BAD. Horrible, unfunny, depressing movie. Ugh.

Michael Lehmann was the exectutive producer of filmography for Ed Wood,
too, and will be directing Heathers 2 (gag).

Truth About Cats & Dogs is a pretty decent movie. I think you could
probably make some style comparisons between that and Heathers.

Seriously, though. Why didn't you just run a check on Michael Lehmann
at IMDb at http://us.imdb.com/Name?Lehmann,+Michael+(I) and see the
long tirade of (mostly) hideous films he did?

I know the original poster was a troll, but I can't believe we are accepting
his asinine claim that HEATHERS is directed in a Tim Burton like style. There
is no similarity! If this guy had really gone to film school it would be a good
argument against ever going to film school. His argument is that because Winona
Ryder has dark hair and pale skin in HEATHERS, the directorial style is all Tim
Burton. Now if that isn't a deep understanding of our favorite director I don't
know what is!
The sad thing is there really are people whose connection with Burton's films
is completely based on hair styles.

Burton also mentions not ever having seen Heathers when he talks about
casting Ryder in Beetlejuice. Of course he also mentions not seeing 21
Jump Street with Johnny Depp, so it's more than probable that he also
directed _that_ series.

Busy man, our Tim.

This is exactly why Mars Attacks! and Pee Wee's Big Adventure are disregarded
in many Burton fan circles.

oh, as though life could be complete without Pee-wee's
spikey lil 'do sticking out of his hairnet in Big Adventure!
and Nicholson's wigs in Mars Attacks! are half the fun of his
characters.
those silly Burton fan circles! when will they ever learn?

: )
