Beau of the Plains
Adam West had the mumps as a child and his Bat
ears were unfortunately affected by the illness, and never really developed
fully, to the everlasting disappointment of his father, Lester West, who was
very hard on young Adam and constantly referred to him as "Stumpy-ears".
Lewis Wilson, on the other hand, had a torrid love affair with with Elisha
Cook, Jr.'s sister Ima, who loved nothing better than tugging on them as a
sign of affection and they just kept getting longer and longer - his right
one was her favorite and if you notice in Chapter Six, his right ear is at
least 3/4 of an inch longer than his left one.
Robert Lowery was always under the impression that he was portraying the
Greek god Mercury and thought they were wings, not ears.
So, there you go, there's your mystery solved.
Best Regards,
Bill Black

Beau
Adam West's cowl ears were cropped for TV close-ups.
Lewis Wilson and Robert Lowery had a huge silever screen so there was
plenty of room for their ears!
