John Wayne drops gun?

I could have sworn that I saw a scene in a serial (The Three
Muskeeters?) where John Wayne is hiding behind a curtain, listening to
some bad guys talk, and accidentally gives himself away when he drops
his pistol. I remember laughing my head off, to think that this
classic cowboy hero would make such a klutzy mistake. But when I
watched it again months later, I couldn't find the scene. Maybe I fell
asleep during that scene the second time around. I might have also
gotten the movies confused because I have a cheapo box set of 12
serials, including The Three Musketeers, the Hurricane Express, and
Shadow of the Eagle, all starring Wayne. And I watched all of them
around the same time.

Can anybody remember which movie it was in?

Can't recall that particular scene, but there is a classic goof in Ford's
The Searchers, with Wayne and Ward Bond. It takes place as the Comanche are
attacking across the river, and Bond 's rifle or pistol (I forget which) is
empty. He yells "Dad Blast it! or some such thing and Wayne pulls his
pistol, tosses it to Bond saying "Watch it, it's loaded" Bond then removes
his top hat and chucks it at Wayne, hitting him in the ribs. Wayne says
something they removed from the soundtrack (you can see his lips moving)
However, as Bond raises the pistol to take aim, it goes off almost in his
face - I guess he pulled the trigger too fast. Then, of course as the scene
continues, Bond fires quite naturally, but I suppose that's one of Ford's
"moments" he's so famous for.

I've been watching Three Musketeers online on AOL video,it's one of
the better Mascot serials I've seen and the cliffhangers are exciting.
They just added chapter 6 on the site.

from 1933 is on YouTube. They just added the last 3 chapters on the
classicmagicbox channel.
