After nine years of operation, Jeff Wilson, the founder and owner of
Wellesnet, the best Orson Welles resource site ever on the web, has
decided to close that site's discussion forum. Here is his statement:

"Having let this go longer than anticipated due to personal matters, I
can advise you all of my decision. To get straight to the point: the
board is closed. The events of recent weeks and months clearly show
that without strong moderation, the bad feelings and behavior will
continue. In a larger forum, the dilution of personalities make it
less problematic when personality clashes occur, but the tiny
community here only magnifies such occurrences. I am sorry it has come
to this, but it seems the only logical solution. To those of you that
donated to keep Wellesnet running, the site is not going anywhere and
never was. The board will remain as a readable archive, as there is a
wealth of information that will hopefully be of use to current and
future readers. So the site will remain an ongoing concern, just one
without a discussion forum, unless Larry chooses to enable commenting
on blog posts.

As this also constitutes my sign-off from the site, let me thank all
of you over the years who helped out and contributed, too many to
mention. It's been fun, it's been a grind, it's been many things. I
wish you all good fortune and good health, and if you find another
place to discuss Welles, may you have good luck with it. Maybe we'll
meet again at some point."
