Gamera 2000

I've heard bits-and-dribbles about a new game coming out for the
Playstation about Gamera. The screen shots look "ehh" (basically Gamera
flying around) and it's unclear if you play Gamera or humans trying to
stop Gamera. The release date according to EGM is around May (if memory
serves); the question is- is this a Japan-only release or what?

The March 1997 issue of EGM #92 has Gamera 2000 listed as an April '97
release in its "Coming Soon" section on page 27. It's publisher is T*HQ
and it says that it will be an action title. I received a couple of e-mails
from people telling me that it will also be an American release. This would
make sense because of the notoriety that Gamera will be getting in the next
year or so here in the states with AD Vision's pending release of Gamera:
Guardian of the Universe, the new Trendmasters Gamera figures, and Disney's
acquisition of G2: Gamera vs. Legion. Fortunately, I do have a Playstation,
so this will be a title that i'm looking forward to getting. Now if they
would only make a Godzilla videogame for the Nintendo 64. Then I would have
two great "kaiju" titles for both of my systems.
