The climax was also great with the sniper. Very intense and suspenseful,
plus it was a great attack on military ways. If the cards are stacked
against you, take your loses and get outta' there seemed to be the
mentality. But courage and smarts prevailed as the squad decided to go after
the sniper. I also noticed paralleles between this and space odyssey in that
in Jacket the squad is at the mercy of the military and their rules and
ethics but prevailed over them eventually, although it wasn't a total win
really, and how the men were in odyssey were at the mercy of technology but
managed to prevail although it wasn't a total victory (a man was killed).
I don't want to overpraise this film even though it was fabulous, because
maybe it's better if this film stays underrated so each time a new person
watches the film with limited expectations, they will be surprised at how
great it really is.

Your review is amazing also, I feel the same but I don't think Modine is
a shit actor.
I find..."FMJ" more appealing each and every time I watch it. The
thickness and taste grows at every viewing.
God Bless...
