If you look at http://us.imdb.com/Title?0203667 it says James Mason plays
himself in "Making the Shining." All I have to say is . . . . what?!

He's there. He's the old guy in the three-piece suit when SK and Jack are
being introduced to all those visitors.

I believe J. Mason was at Eltree Studios shooting "Murder by Decree" at the
same time TS was in production there, hence the visit to old friend SK.

Is this video still available? Where could I get it and is it worth
the time tracking it down?

Thanks.

"Making the Shining," a film by Vivian Kubrick, is included as part of the "The
Shining" portion of the VHS tape and DVD "Kubrick Collection." You can get
"The Shining" separately if you don't want to shell out all the bucks for the
entire collection. Check your local video/DVD retailer or order it from
Amazon.com.

what's interesting is that THE SHINING is virtually a remake of
Nicholas Ray's masterpiece BIGGER THAN LIFE, in which James Mason plays
a man who, under the influence of drugs (rather than a haunted hotel),
goes berserk and tries to kill his family. Perhaps Kubrick invited
Mason to the set of THE SHINING to see if the actor noticed anything
familiar.

Brad Stevens.
