Also, what is the story behind the "Gil Hicks" character?
Remember, I am a NEWBIE to Kevin Smith's movies, i saw clerks a year or
so ago, but watched GWH, Mallrats and Chasing Amy in the last 2 days, so
now im hooked.
the story line goes from mallrats to clerks to chasing amy, and gil hicks
is supposed to be the brother or cousin of Dante. (this was pulled from
something KS said during the shooting of Mallrats.)

Actually Mallrats would've happened before Clerks since the brain
aneurism girl (can't think of her name) had just died in Mallrats
(making her unable to appear on the dating show) while in Clerks Dante
and Randal go to her funeral (which is usually a few days after death.)
No, they go to the wake, wich is usually the day after people die..therefore
mallrats happened the day before clerks.
Death-related mouring-type thing. (I meant wake, but I misspelled it.)
But still confirms that Mallrats would precede Clerks.
Good Will Hunting, perhaps?
She dies in the YMCA pool sometime around midnight, Thursday!!
In Clerks it's Saturday
In Mallrats it's Friday
In Chasing Amy it's two years after the events in Clerks!
More neat info on the trilogy: Did you know that the character of
William Black (snowball guy in CLERKS) is also the guy staring at the 3D
picture in MALLRATS!! That's right there is two William Black's (same
character different actor!)
Ever wonder where all those cool names came from for the characters in
MALLRATS? Well watch the independent lesbian film GO FISH (not bad, I
liked it a lot!) it was written and produced by Guinervere Turner & Rose
Troche (she directed also!) well any major fan will know that Joey
Lauren Adams played Gwen Turner in MALLRATS! The other names in GO FISH
and MALLRATS that are similar:
The actress V.S Brodie (GO FISH) helped with the name Brodie (and maybe
T.S Quint!)
**Guinervere Turner also made a cameo appearence in CHASING AMY she was
the one that got Joey Lauren Adams up on stage at the club!!**
Anymore questions just write to me!

I thought it was Willem (like Willem DaFoe).
WOW.
and now i know.
I know the Mallrats and Clerks timeline is correct, but how do you come to the
conclusion that it was two years later on Chasing Amy. I have seen the movie
several times and dont recall them saying it happen two years ago during their
conversation about her.

Thanks for the info! I didnt know this stuff.
Actually...Brodie Bruce (Jason Lee) in Mallrats was contributed by Sherifff
Brodie in Jaws (Roy Sheider) and Bruce (the name of the mechanical shark)
T.S. Quint was from T.S. Eliot....
Also...it's Willam, not William
just a lil more trivia...Heather Jones, Alyssa's little sister in Clerks, was
played by Kevin's girlfriend Kim Loughran

They laugh alike, they walk alike, sometimes they even talk alike. You
could lose your mind. When cousins are two of a kind.
So it occured to me, that something may be amiss. At least that or I'm
just not getting it given my wretched wormlike mind. My question is, if
it's Saturday in Clerks, why does Veronica have to leave the store to
get to class?

She's such a studious person, she takes Saturday classes.
Many schools have weekend classes.
Danny
Ps: Univ. @ buffalo doesn't have Saturday classes

It is not safe to say that at all because there is at least one college
in that nation that doesn't have Saturday classes. Now, we could say
that the vast majority of colleges in the nation have Saturday classes.
I bet this isnt true unless its a private school.
Danny
Well, now you are qualifying the original statement. First you said that
every college has Saturday classes. Now you're exempting private
schools. I assume that if someone could prove that Podunk U. didn't have
Saturday classes, you'll find some other reason to disqualify that
school.
Then again they may have offered these classes and I was just too drunk
to notice.
Namaste,
Danny

Well, why don't we just find schools where it would have been possible for her
to attend(weren't they supposed to be in Leonardo?), and see if they offer
Saturday classes?
Leah
I agree...so anyone who gets this info please submit it. Thank you:)

She went to school at Monmouth College (now Monmouth
University). My mom went there, and I grew up around there.
And yes, I believe there were Saturday classes.

=w= (-o-) <*>
1) How many people really go to the store at 6:30 AM for coffee and a paper..
on Saturday?
2) Does Veronica really have classes ALL DAY on Saturday? She had at least one
morning class. One of her classes was cancelled around noon (was it Mech 101?),
but she still had classes until 8 and a sorority meeting until 9. That's a
hell of a weekend schedule! (another question...does Monmouth even *have*
sororities?)
These are all based on opinions, and yeah, maybe it's possible (though
doubtful). But can anyone answer this question? This, to me, is the proof of
inconsistency in the movie:
3) "An angry mother called the State Division of Taxation and claimed that a
Quick Stop employee sold her four-year-old daughter a pack of cigarettes at
4:00 today. The New Jersey Division of Taxation called the Board of Health,
and sent [a representative] down to issue a fine."
My question: Are both the Division of Taxation and the Board of Health open on
weekends? I thought government agencies closed at 5:00 sharp on Friday.

Take a breath.
Look at what you are arguing about.
Look around you.
Look out the window.
Now go, and find that life you may need.
Thank you.

I thought you said it was a good size?
I don't think anyone is arguing that she had Saturday classes and that
Saturday classes are indeed possible and offered at most schools. The
problem came in with the blanket statement that ALL colleges have
Saturday classes (which was what was said originally), then when someone
pointed out a college that didn't have Saturday classes, private schools
were suddenly exempt. This is just a silly little argument as to whether
or not people should talk in such broad terms. I agree that the vast
majority of colleges in the U.S. have Saturday classes these days, but
to blanketly say that ALL colleges have Saturday classes without having
done the reseach first to prove that such a statement is correct is only
asking for trouble.
