Whats the point of this? Is it beverage in it? or is there to just look
cool?
This was a nod to Walt Flanagan. Kevin said he could make a cup of soda last
forever.
I know that, but what reason did Brodie have to carry it around? I know why
Kevin Smith put it in the movie, but what was its purpose in the movie itself?

Ok, Who the hell IS Walt Flanagan?! I've watched all the movies dozens
of times and other than references to his dog, I haven't gotten anything
else on Walt Flanagan. Is he a friend of Kevins?
Also, for the plot, he carried that around to get complimentary refills
at the food court (or any autonomous unit for mid-mall snacking). At
least, that's what I got from it.

kevin put that in just as a little injoke reference to his friend walt...by the
way..walt is a friend of kevin...he played the shell shocked guidance counselor
and the offended customer in clerks...he was fan-boy walt and a staff member
fired by svenning in mallrats...i'm not sure offhand if he was in chasing amy
or not...he also works at the secret stash....just offering some
answers....skott

Yes, yes, but leaving the real world aside, what did BRODIE use it for? I
doubt that little cup could make thirst go away.
Thank you.
to hold soda

filled multiple times it could...besides it may well just be something to sip
on...not necesarily (sp?) to quench thirst

Remember that good directors & writers often give their characters "quirks" to
flesh them out & make them more like real people- like that buddy of yours that
puts chocolate sauce on tuna, or the girl that hates the sound of the word
"luge". It adds verisimilitude, the appearance of reality, to a work of fiction.
If everything Brodie did was done to further the movie plot, he would be a very
flat, two-dimensional character.
Brodie can make a cup of coffee last forever because… that's just Brodie. It's
part of his character. There's no higher motive.

There used to be a house on my block that we thought was haunted, because you'd
hear people screaming inside and because people who went in never came out. Later
on we found out it was just a murderer's house.

He used it to drink. As seen in various scenes he got refills at at least one
vendor at the food court.
