My wife and I have been saying for some time we should try to "remake"
that lamp! I would love to have one just like it: music, lampshade, and
all.

Any takers?!

Of course, if anyone knows where we too can get one like it, already
made, I would be interested too!

When I first heard the lamp music box I thought it was the hymn "We
Gather Together," but listening to it carefully later, I realized that
it wasn't identical to it. After doing a little web search, I found that
this is a centuries old song, and has probably appeared in many forms,
and with many lyrics (as many other very old melodies have); maybe in a
lot of music boxes too.

My guess is that this basic melody was the inspiration for the lamp
music box melody in the movie. It is a _lovely_ variation of the song.

Here is a URL about "We Gather Together" that contains some information,
and midi versions of it:

You could search for a music box using the title "We Gather Together" as
an excellent lead. If you find such a music box, maybe the musical
element of it could be installed in a rotating lamp similar to Joe's.

Just an idea.

Assuming it is in 3/4 time, it synchs with We Gather Together for the
first four measures, then it diverges.

I found this site surfing around. They sell tons of music box parts,
lamp kits, etc. You'd just need to find the shade:
