Hi,

I've never seen Frenzy but plan to soon. I heard that it was the first and
only Hitchcock film with a nude scene. Is this true? Is it done tastefully?
I can't imagine a HC film with nudity after the classic shower scene did
what it could to imply it but not show it.

Thanks!

I have no idea what you would consider "tasteful" under the circumstances in
the film -- the nudity is of a corpse.

What's "HC"? Hitchcock classic? He was not ALLOWED to feature nudity in
PSYCHO. I imagine if it were common when that film was made, he would have
featured it out of simple realism.

I don't care for gratuitous nudity (a la Psycho II where Meg Tilly gets out
of the shower, etc.)

Also, on a side note, which film did Hitchcock start making his cameo's in?

I myself don't regard nudity as gratuitous.

Gratuitous means "with no cause"; if the person getting nude is
attractive, there's the cause right there! And we should show
gratefulness!

Thanks...my wife kind of freaks when there is nudity in a film (she doesn't
care to view it and I respect it) so this will help if and when I finally
see Frenzy.

Both of the main female characters have nude scenes, but they were obviously
done with body doubles (no breasts and face in the same shot). I find this
incredibly annoying as it always takes me out of the story.

True, late in the film, the nudity is of a corpse, Babs' corpse.
But earlier, in the Coburg Hotel, the nudity is of a very much alive Babs.
And I myself think it is tasteful and very important to the film.

Jas3777:

I hate to disagree but I think if you check out the very brief scene
of the topless dancers in the Folies Bergere in the film "Rich and
Strange" (1932) you will find that "Frenzy" is not the only example of
nudity in Alfred Hitchcock's work.

A few years ago on this group, it was pointed out to me that this
material was"stock" footage from Ewald Andre Dupont's silent film
"Moulin Rouge" (1928). It certainly added a bit of spice to "Rich and
Strange".

Both Hichcock and E. A. Dupont apparently worked for British
International Pictures the company which had earlier produced "Moulin
Rouge".

I find it hard to believe that you guys are still baiting Bill Warren
after all these years.

I would have thought that that the trolls would have grown bored with
this waste of time.

I also thought Bill would have learned to ignore them.

Quite frankly, while I used to enjoy this group tremendously at one
time, I now seldom read it because of this silly immature behaviour.
