I went to see the iconic door step and was disappointed to see that it had been walled up a few years ago. Apparently there had been a bit of a Beatles/Abbey Road type thing going on - and the owners got sick of fans hanging around.

Still you have a wonderful view of Russian Hill whilst standing there. The location was chosen very carefully.

I trust you went to see the 'Vertigo Hotel', which was called The Empire at the time at the time of filming. This is where Madeleine moodily looked out onto the street.
