Grease Auditions? No, more than just Grease Auditions. This is
auditions for a once-in-a-lifetime event. Painted Proteges is a shadow
cast group formed by Jennifer Hart and Jon Rowland. Some you may
remember Jennifer and Jon as the directors of The Rocky Horror Picture
Show and Repo! The Genetic Opera shadow cast groups here in Michigan.
The reason why these auditions are interesting is that there has been
no shadow cast in the... world to do Grease The Movie as a shadow
cast. But for those of you that have experienced The Rocky Horror
Picture Show and Repo! The Genetic Opera shadow cast performances by
the best shadow cast performers in Michigan; then you know this will
be the event to be at this year.
For those of you who don't know what a Shadow Cast is, it's a type of
theatre where the cast performs Screen Accurate movement while the
feature is played on a giant screen behind them. What puts Painted
Proteges above other shadow cast groups is that they not only perform
screen accurate movement, but sing and speak every line. Live theatre
and a movie: how can you say no?
We will be looking for 10 males and 10 females to play various parts,
many of these parts are double and even triple casted, allowing some
cast members to play two or even three roles! we are also looking for
anyone who wants to help run backstage and set, lighting, tech, etc
All are welcome to try out. Please be prepared to sing and bring
clothes for dancing. A CD player will be available for those who bring
their own music.
For anyone who wants to get their name out there, expand on their
talents, do something new, do something fun, for those who love to
sing, love to dance, and love to show off their talents as well as do
something that no one's done before, this is the place to be! Grease
