the five worst)? I haven't seen many episodes yet, but the two I liked
the least so far have been _Baby Spookums_ and the one about the ghosts
on vacation. I'd like to know which eps everyone else thinks are bad,
so I can steel myself for the eventual viewing. ;)

I'm not having fun watching these Coulier eps that have been on lately.
Every time I watch one, I have to watch an L. Music ep right afterward
just to get that Awful Voice out of my head, and the Wonderful Voice
back into it.
I did finally get to see Egon fall off the World Trade Center. Poor
baby. That would've been a better ep with the right Peter.

That one's a given, with the possible exception of Elementary, My Dear Winston.
That one could've been a great episode if they'd left out Tully and sharpened
up the writing just a bit.

Ecto-1 and showed it to a guy I work with and he said they had a '59 Cadillac
as a hearse when his father died. Since they called it both on the show, I
sometimes refer to it one way, sometimes another.

As well as semi-hypocritical. Winston talks of saving the environment when the
vehicle he drives is a two-ton gas-guzzler that smokes like a factory half the

YES, YES, YES!!! "Ghostfight" had realistic and scary ghosts, a great story
and the best artwork of the entire series (check out that shot of the GBs
walking with the setting sun behind them--beautiful!), whereas "Magnificent
Five" had a stupid town with stupid people, a ridiculous ghost,
less-than-stellar art and Dave "Monotone" Coulier. 'Nough said.

I need to see this one! (Ghostfight, I mean) best artwork, hmm? as an
amateur artist/art historian, I'm waaaay too picky about my animation,
and RGB doesn't usually make my cut...most US cartoon shows don't, some
of Gargoyles and Batman (of course I 'rate' differently, I'm not judging
the animation of Animaniacs, say!)
RGB is kind of hard to categorize anyway, though; is it humor or action?
they've got 4 fingers but tend not to get hurt when falling long
distances...somewhere in the middle. so I've developed a different
rating system...if Peter looks cute, I'm okay with it (verra
discriminating, no?) And if the other guys do too then it's good...

hearse in the flashback to 1959 episode (which was fairly lame but better than
most of the other short episodes). I suspect old Ecto has had a checkered past.

The funny thing is, while I like RGB's good animation when it is there (some of
it in Venkman's Ghost Repellers is stunning and some of it is drek) I find that
bad animation doesn't bother me nearly as much as bad plot. It's still the
guys. They're not tacky in the episode, they're just drawn that way. If they're
early episode with a mature plotline and nobody acting goofy or out of
character, i can forgive bad art. I can't forgive lousy scripts with Coulier's
voice nearly as well.

Yeah, remember When Halloween Was Forever? Good story, good acting, good
characterization, but AWFUL art and lots of animation goofs (like Egon
appearing on the roof when he was supposed to be on the street)!
It's sort of like old episodes of Doctor Who; good story and acting can
override cheesy special effects. ;-)

zines, but he doesn't listen.

have you tried INKING your pencil lines? That will make them stand out
more, hopefully upping the contrast enough that you can get fairly
clean images. Then use a graphics program to edit out the messed-up
spots, and you've got a nice image to dispaly on your site.

Or Who Are You Calling Two Dimensional--and they tried to do the same kind of
thing with Stay Tooned and it didn't work at all. Not to mention how obnoxious
and insensitive Ray was at the beginning of the episode. If his sense of humor
was really like this, it's a wonder the guys put up with him. Badly done!!

Also had to share this memory...when sis and I were getting into this
show, um, February I think it was, she came up for a weekend to stay at
my dorm. We spent most of that time reading fic, I on my computer, she
on my roomie's, reading each other the best lines, it was FUN! but
anyway...
neither of us had seen any eps, but growing increasingly desperate to
know just who these chars we were falling in luv with were, we went
surfing, found images (we had seen the cartoon ages ago, and we both
remembered Egon's hair if nothing else! ;) and then we found some
sounds...and promptly got into a debate. Took us a bit to figure out
where we knew LorenzoM's voice from, and then sis remembered he was on
TailSpin, playing this dumb char...she had those memories interfering
and decided she didn't like Peter's voice.
I hadn't been an ardent TSpin fan and thought the voice fitted him
exactly, that sort of laid-back tone is him so well (and he is like
Garfield, lots of cat traits!) so we argued, and I saved every soundbyte
I found...
of course then finally we saw the show, and now we both love Peter's
voice. and everything else... ;) so it has a happy ending, as long as
we're watching 1st season, anyway...

shop, and sometimes the characters look very, very androgynous. They really

This is a perfect example of how the characters deteriorated after JMS left.
It makes you wonder what the heck the people who were running the show were
thinking. The first season, and parts of the second season, the characters
were well-rounded and three-dimensional, Slimer was just comic relief and not
the main character and the plots were sensible and mature. The ratings were
very high, for a cartoon.
Later on, the characters regressed to one-dimensional stereotypes (Peter the
smartass, Egon the Vulcan, Ray the child, Janine the Barbie doll, Winston the
nonentity), Slimer became a lead character, they brought in Louis the loser,
the stories became childish and full of plot holes big enough to pull the
Empire State Building through--standing up--and the ratings went down. Gee, I
wonder why?!

"Such a guy..." I'm wondering if that's a compliment or take that as an
offense... ^_^ I am an action fanatic though, martial arts especially,
not really crazy about shoot-out... and as an anime collector, I try to
stick to RGB anime-style as close as possible...
But I digress, as much as I love action, I like a good plot and
characterization too with some ghostbusting elements... I caught
inbetween my favorite animated ghostbusting shows, RGB and Yu Yu Hakusho
(tranlates into 'Ghostfighter' that specialize in martial art
ghostbusting, excellent continuity, and very unique characters, both
good and evil...)

Never label anyone that kind of stereotype, AnneL, they tend to prove
others wrong, plus the fact that you never know why I have not do those
type of poses as of yet... you never know I might like a mix of things
as I know some women that like action stuff more than romance.
Just a friendly note, never assume anything and maybe some people may
surprise you...

compliment, offense, doesn't matter--your art is beautiful! love the
anime versions of the guys (regarding the thread about the androgeny of
some anime--yours definitely are male!) Glad you're on the ng, been

as for smarm, mmm, that's the one thing I say does fit gender

Hey, Adrian! I did not know who they were talking about before, but when you
mentioned Raven, I knew!
I love your art, too, especially the color pics that you use as links. I don't
like smarm at all, so keep on doing action. There is a serious lack of action
in most GB art, tho I try to get some in once in a while.
Tho a little romance would be nice too....

Warm and fuzzy is okay, I seen that in YYH, Slayers, and other anime
titles even Dragonball Z which is pretty cool... but I never really seen
that much RGB stuff in any way, shape or form in the way I like to
see... so I normally use pics I seen in YYH, Evangelion, and DBZ as a
template for RGB fan-art... I guess I like that type of style... that
and drawing out of magazines, (Ebony, Essence, Jet, and some other
fashion books for references...)

mean the physical/verbal display of friendship, which is how I've come
to think of it...the comfort part of h/c. Which can be gooey, but when

actually think that many are...we're not different, we're special!) So
Sandy, your final pic in Lost Davy is smarm through and through, but
that's in a completely complimentery way.

going thru considerable angst first...and as angst is where my talents

I do not like the use of smarm as it is in fanfic. Since the word apart from
fanfic has quite a derogatory meaning. I like h/c, but I like it to suit what
has happened, not to push over into what feels like slash territory. I've read
some waaaay over the top stories (probably wrote a few in the past myself). But
I think the comfort needs to arise out of the hurt and be in proportion to it,
not simply done because the writer enjoys a good wallow.

heart-felt hug of joy at the sight of a friend out of danger. I really don't
like the thought that someone thinks my art is 'smarm'.....but I did say I was
open to other's thoughts on this subject, so I will just have to live with it!

Yes, and I consider this a sign of friendship and human nature reacting after a
stressful time. Smarm to me is overkill, where it goes way beyond what people
would normally do in a situation. I don't consider your art Smarm< Sandy. I
just love it. I thought that picture was perfect for the scene, the happy
reunion. Don't let a question of terminology put you off drawing wonderful art.

I for one would like to see some of your RGB art... I get a few
reactions out of RGB fans and Anime fans alike for my RGB fan art and
alternative universe version of RGB, but I am curious to see your
opinions and artwork as well (Keeps me competitive and motivative to
improve my art skills... I usually felt that I can always get better but
need a reminder to keep working at it...)

battle, before they were torn apart? I can't find that story on your site. I
like your alternate universe Ghostbusters Super, and the way you have built up
the characters, tho Egon seems to have lost all heart, bowing to 'the man'.

Winston: "Egon, I can't believe you're working for 'da man...'! (in a
stereotypical black slang speech)"
But understandable that Egon seemed very cold, considered that he finds
himself responsible for losing Peter (who is the Netherworld) and Ray's
injuries after their fight with Gozer and also the chance Winston facing
prison terms because of Walter Peck's influence.
I try to remember to tie in the past characters while creating some new
ones so that they all connect together.
