I *can* understand why some witches may be offended...certainly Hollywood's
portrayal of witches has been highly innaccurate. They're either happy
characters in poofy pink dresses with magic wands (Wizard of Oz) or women who
get into witchcraft for evil and selfish reasons (The Craft.) But, as I said
in another post, in the case of TBWP, I think they're overreacting. The 1700s
definition of a witch has nothing to do with who/how they are today, and I
think for the most part, people are not viewing TBWP as a "witch" movie.

Actually, Oliver, I think that "Drew the Dipshit" was trying to make a
point about how witches AREN'T overreacting to what they feel is a
negative portrayal of them in TBWP. At least, that's what I *think* he
was trying to do. Drew has this funny little habit of making a complete
asshole of himself every time he posts here.
Regardless, it was still a very poor (not to mention tasteless) analogy.
Even people who would agree with the point he was attempting to make
would find his method in doing so quite offensive.

1) Prove to me the Goddess is fake and the Christian God is real. I am not Wiccan, per se, but I am Pagan and She is more real to me that He is.
2) I chose this path not because I was "an outcast in High School". When I was in High School, I was a Christian and proud of it. My life lead down this path because (a) people in the church who are intolerant hypocrites and (b) the beliefs of the church did not follow my own beliefs or experiences. Paganism does. I have no anger or hatred towards Christianity, and I'm not saying Pagans are perfect. There are alot of Pagans out there who feel the same way about Christians that Christians feel about them. Fine. But if you're going to be a religion that teaches tolerance of others' beliefs, then show tolerance.
I am Pagan and I believe in the Goddess and the God strongly. Does that mean I'm going to tell you your beliefs are wrong? No. Why? Because that is not what religious tolerance is about.
Will I tell you that my beliefs are right? No. Why? Because it is not my place to tell you what you believe is wrong and should be changed.
Just as it's not your place to tell me the same.

This is explained in the comic and other sources outside of the
movie--eventually, she cracked, and figured that if people were going to
cast her out as a witch, she may as well curse them like (their version
of) a witch--the murdered children were her way of getting her kids back.
Cuddly, no, but it makes sense in context. It's not as if she woke up one
morning and decided to kill people for the fun of it.
