When TBWP 1st opened "nationwide" a week ago, the major theatre in my
neighborhood (The UA) was not carrying it. One week & 28+ million later,
it's now playing there as well. What a shock huh? Anyway, i was on line
behind these two kids (they had to have been about 14-15 years old) to
buy tickets for The 6th Sense. Once at the window the teens asked for
two tickets for TBWP. To my astonishment, the ticket seller actually
asked for ID & then refused them admission! I haven't seen that happen
since the golden years of Dawn of the Dead! lol

It's law now that people have to be checked for ID for R movies, right?
I had to buy my sister (16) and her friends (17 and 14) tickets in
advance for opening night, but they went again two days later and had no
problems. I guess it depends on what theatre you go to.

There are no national laws regarding R movies. That is all a
gentlemanly agreement between theatres and the MPAA.

It's a gentlemanly agreement under duress from the U.S. legislature,
which has threatened to come up with legislation of such an agreement
weren't made voluntarily.

There was a 60 some year old lady working the ticket booth who asked for my
ID. I had mine on me, but my fiance, Kim, didn't and she wouldn't let us
in. I think it was because her manager was right beside her. I thought it
was really rediculous, especially since she's 23 years old, and I'm 22. We
went back home and got it, and when we came back, I showed her my ID and
said, "Two for Blair Witch Project, AGAIN!" My fiance threw her ID on the
counter for her to look at and the lady handed it right back to her. Kim
said, "Aren't you going to even look at it?" The lady said, "I did." It
seemed to me like she looked at it for less than a second, not even taking
time to check the DOB. Anyway, then she said to another guy there, "I
can't take this, people throwing their ID's at me." Evidently other people
have done the same. I think it is ridiculous. I really think the only
reason that she carded us was because the manager was standing by her.
We've never been carded for going to the movies before. Anyone else get
their ID checked?

Im 21 and my wife is 20. About a year ago when we went to see Scream 2
(waste of money) they Id-ed us. Of cource my wife left here purse in
the car, and the 15 year old ticket girl wouldnt let her in. We tried
to explain to her that she was my frigin wife and even if she was 15 she
could get in with me cause I would technicaly be here legal guardian
untill she was 18. But nothin doin. So we had to wait in line twice to
see the worst movie in history. Kinda anoying having some adolesent
throw around there 'athority" just to be bitchy.....But nice at a movie
like BWP...and we always bring ID now.
Oh well....when were in our 50's we will live for getting carded

You may be 22, but they can't tell unless they see your ID.
It's definitely happening more now because of the recent agreement between the
movie people (MPAA) and the government.

Um, I hope you saw the earlier responses that explained this. It's not about
what you describe, but rather part of an agreement.

Is showing ID such a big deal? Everyone I know either has it in their wallet,
which they have at all times, or have something else on them.
