I know the movie is fake & I liked a lot but why in the hell would
someone take 5 or 6 days worth of camcorder batteries on a 2 day trip?

Thanks,
Rob

They would take 5 or 6 days worth of camcorder batteries on a 2 day trip
for the same reason that the Howell's, Ginger and Mary Ann brought all
their clothes on a three hour tour.

Mostly because you take a LOT of footage and you take that footage from
various angles and whatnot. An average 2 hour movie will likely have
anywhere between 4 and 11 hours worth of footage, all but that 2-hours'
worth never finding it's way off of the editing room floor. It is
conceivable that if a camcorder battery lasts an average of 3 hours, you'd
need 8 of them per day if you were running your unit 24/7. So I guess that
it boils down to what you determine to be "5 or 6 days worth." Chances are
what they had was just enough.

I agree with this, plus in "94" camcorder batteries sucked bad and the
average lasting time was probably an hour.
