I am working on creating wildlife habitat that is off-limits to
humans ("pure habitat"). Want to help? (I spent the previous 8
years fighting auto dependence and road construction.)
Pretty old mikey thats been around for months if not a year or more, but
then we don't expect you to be up to date or have your facts straight so
it's ok. It is pretty scary though, the first rider was correct the
penalty for failure can be extreme.
Jason
That's the infamous "Miles Todd Crash Video" -- soon to be "as seen on TV"!
Bill "I drove him to the emergency room (on 1/1/4 IIRC)" S.
Normally I ignore Mike's pathetic rambling, but does anyone know exactly
where this video was shot? I definitely want to ride that trail.
For those too lazy or not on broadband, no one was hurt. Just one guy
taking a little tumble down a hill, and he was fine afterwards. Anyone who
rides offroad regularly has seen or experienced far worse, it just happens
to look mildly interesting on video to non-riders.

Just two days ago, we had a cyclist and a pedestrian struck and killed in
the streets in two unrelated accidents.
What can we conclude from this?
Riding is dangerous anywhere; so is walking. Time to gas up the Ford
Ex-tinct 8,000# Urban Assault Vehicle!

You managed to pack a LOT of incorrectness in that one little paragraph.
Off to ride, Bill S.

Dude, apparently they CLEARED 'em! (Last time I was there -- day of the
vid -- they were ALMOST through the main one. Pretty amazing engineering
feat.)
Not sure what /HOURS/ the trains run though, you know? ;-)

Yup, those hikers are in control of their bodies and movement at all
times!

And on and on...
Well, the first sentence I'll admit is a bit of an assumption, but the rest
seems pretty accurate to me. Was he hurt?
H.
No, I drove him to the emergency room just so we could show off the bent
digits and bloody scars.
Could you possibly be more ambiguous with your answer? Bent digits? What
the fuck does that mean? Bloody scars? What, are you from England now or
something? What the fuck do scars have to do with fresh injuries? I'm
confused.
I don't care if got a little road rash or broke a finger or two. That's
normal for everyone and hardly worth mentioning. I want to know if he was
*seriously injured*, more than a typical weekend warrior would be.
The fact you took him to the ER really doesn't mean anything, as I'm not
sure if you're the type who goes to the ER for a hangnail, or if you're the
type that only goes when there's massive bleeding involved. Some people go
to the ER for everything because they have no insurance, and that's the only
way they can see a fucking doctor, so driving him to the ER really doesn't
mean anything by itself.
So, I'll ask again. Was he fucking seriously hurt or not? Set me straight
if I'm wrong.
H.
If you stop being an ass, I might... aw, forget it.
Potty mouth.
h
Bent = a curved or angular shape
Digit = finger.
Bloody = blood on it.
scars = mark left on the skin after a surface injury or wound has healed.
hint, if you injure an area that has scars, you might get a "bloody scar".
I've had a few.
you could probably google the origianal event, RR and subsequent posts typed
with one hand.....you will most likely get more information that way than
being rude to people that were actually there.
small change
I think this is the first useful post I've seen from Mr. V; that's quite
some gripping footage there!
BTW: I found this site related to the incident:

Looks like your 'friend of a friend of a friend' either knows
Bill or stole the video from his site. I suspect the later,
since it looks like he even went through the trouble of erasing
some kind of copyright notice or other caption on the video you
posted.
If you want to see the REAL video along with the story behind it
(and some more great videos!), go to this site:
You can be foolish and choose to walk in places where you can choose to
be hurt. You can do the same thing while cycling, as the video demonstrates.
Google the original fucking thread here and do a little research b-4 showing
what a jerk-off you are...
Thank you....

He's a mountain biker, isn't he? Then what's the truth?

Well, wasn't quite so much of a cliff from what I saw, more like an
incredibly steep slope with rocks all over and around it.

Nope. That never came up. Since it was 15 months ago, I can't
remember the conversation word for word, but a lot of it revolved
around Bill complaining I was getting blood on his passenger seat, and
could I please quit it.

No, it was a cliff. At least the first 10 meters or so were vertical,
then the next 40 meters I fell were just really damned steep. The
video doesn't do a great job of capturing the cliffness of it, but if
you look at the photos that eric took of the area you can get a better
perspective.

I fell about 1450 feet, all told. I got some cuts, a sprained wrist,
and a broken pinky. I also broke my glasses. However, I was certainly
unharmed enough to climb back up, and then ride the ten miles back to
the cars.
I have never said I was scared to watch the video- that is an outright
