I have an opportunity to purchase the following bike..
94or95 19 inch Giant Cadex carbon fiber front suspension mountain bike, LX
components, grip shift, upgraded wheels & seat, various titanium, Has Ritchey
Comp/Vantage rims, Specialized body geometry seatpost, Deore LX derailleurs,
brakes, crank; Purple alloy (titanium?) quick releases for wheels and
seatpost; bar ends; Invert 2 85 PSI street tires mounted and a pair of extra
Psycho dirt tires.
The guy has put less than 100 miles on it since new, due to being in a
motorcycle accident and is asking $500.
Any opinions on this manufacturer/model/price?
Thanks
Brandon

I have no idea about the bike, but from the components and the fact it's a
carbon fiber frame. I would say that is damn cheap. And if you don't want
it, I'll TAKE IT!!!

No. Kaka. Crap. Don't buy this ride. In fact, tell me where the guy is, his
contact info and such, and I'll rush right on over there and tell him all
about what a beater he has and how it's too expensive. Hold on a second, I
have to go grab my checkbook first. Whatever you do, don't buy this bike
before I can get a chance to gra-- uhh, I mean, discuss it with you.

Hey there Brandon,
I'd bet my older sister that this is a '95. I had a '94 and it was a
Giant/Cadex ALM-1 set up very similarly (Marzocci fork, STX drive train, LX
breaks etc). It was replaced the following year with the carbon fiber
model.

Ride the bike first and ride a few others around the same price. I found
the Giant geometry a little quirky for my body type. I felt like I had too
high a center of gravity. The quality of mine was outstanding and I had
nothing to complain about. I traded it in three weeks ago for a Sugar.

Let us know how you make out. It's a great price on the package, just make
sure you're comfortable on it!!!

Take a scale with you, or borrow his. Weigh yourself, then weigh yourself
holding said bike. Thats what I did with mine! Too bad mine is 30lbs (for
a hardtail, too!) and yours'll be around 26 probably =P

Unfortunately, for me, logistics(emergency 2 week trip to the midwest) put me
in a position as to NOT being able to purchase The CFM-3 that i asked about
here in this group. I felt bad that i told the guy i would buy it, and then
backed out. I told him i would post it for sale here. A few people here have
expressed interest in it. SO, You can call David at 1-520-881-6423. He is
in Tucson AZ
