My wife hits my pipes with her boots on a regular basis, (can't teach an
old dog new tricks). I find if I let it bake on, then wait until the pipes
are cool, it will rub off with a little auto polish.

When riding I accidentally touched the bottom of my shoes to the
pipes. There is now rubber stuck to the pipe. My question is will
acetone mess up the chrome. I was going to try using it to remove the
rubber. If it does, do you have any other suggestions for getting the
rubber off of my pipes.
Your comments are appreciated.

It is tough to get any chemical to damage chrome. Takes a really
strong acid. Chrome is specifically used to prevent corrosion (and to
permit posing) Acetone won't hurt it, may not clean off the skum though.
