Address here.
I think I know that SOB personally. :>
Regards,
Pan- you rang?-head
How may that useless, stupid, er, I mean, -I- be of service?
Your sense of humor has changed considerably. More of a style
befitting an asshole I guess. I always enjoyed the old pan-pull-my
finger posts. Maybe I am just getting old.
As too my paint question. I have a 2002 XLS with the flat black trim
(pipes, etc) but I am unable to find a black polyurathane paint that
isn't gloss. I have built a rack/sissy bar out of steel and want to
paint it to match. Harley only sells rattle cans of the matching
paint. I would like to paint it with a good paint that won't rub off
from the cooler being strapped to it. Have you got any suggestions?

See how ya are?
Regardless, I'm still a very funny son of a bitch...no, really!
I write my own material still, with a bit of crankiness added.
(New bike, but too cold and slippery on the NJ for my tastes)
Moving on.....

Ah, yes!

Oh my!
I used to be the glossy SOB.

The "problem" with flat or semi gloss paints IS the additives added to
them to make them look or appear dull.
The problem with that is, they tend to ABSORB the elements that cling
to them.
The nature of the beasts!
BUTT, that can be cured!
Don't let them get dirty!
or, Use a gloss, and scuff the part to the desired dullness!
(that takes practice as well)
Foist thing is, like I always said before, is the primer.
An epoxy like one is always best, then follow up with the coating you
desire.
Most unlikely to find that and the top coat finish you desire,
especially if it's going to get a lot of PHYSICAL WEAR.
HOWEVER, the powder coating tech is moving right along!
Especially for what YOU might need and want!
POWDER is very tough, and comes in a variety of finishes, with a
hardness that "should" surpass any sprayed on finish in the "flat" kind
of look you are desiring.
While nothing is indeed bullet proof, the properly primed and sprayed
item you have, using MOFO's Hairy-Davidson paint, should also provide
adequate metal protection...give the look... and be cheap to repair
when "shit happens."
Like I said, powder is tough, BUT, it's just a coating, like any other
paint, that can and will wear out when beaten up.
Want to repair it?
EASY!
Send it back to the powder coater! $$$$$$
Orrrrrrr.. Just clean and prime what ya got, and rattle can it and
repair as needed for the cost of a can of krylon!
I'm NOT kidding!
That's not bad shit, especially if it's just a cooler yer adding on
that doesn't move, and not flappy bags that beats the hell out of the
metal due to wind.
Hope that helped.

Keep in mind ya can't powdercoat over
body filler or spot putty. Gotta be bare metal.

Are we talkin' funny "ha-ha" or funny "peculiar"?
As to the question at hand, I vote for black rattlecan bedliner.......
matches, unique, tough as nails. YMMV.
