I crashed my new 2000 Ultra, hit a horse out here in Amish country
(Lancaster, Pa.) . The dreaded left turn onto a dirt lane with no signals.
Anyway, I'm about healed and the dealer has no clue when my frame or painted
parts will be in. Anybody been through this? What can I expect for a wait
time? My ribs are healed, road rash about gone and even my broken shoulder
is starting to feel pretty good. It's been 5 weeks and no sign of, or word
on, the missing parts. Any insight is welcome. Thanks all.

Frames generally show up pretty quick, like a week or so, but the crunch is that
once it's received, the factory needs to have the original steering neck and
numbers returned to them in short order, so if the dealer working on your bike
isn't ready to take a torch to your frame yet, he may not order your frame right
away. The long wait is for painted parts, sometimes can take months, depending
on the complexity of the paint work. I've seen this process sped up by opting
for one of the custom paint packages in lieu of the stock paint. Another
problem is that it's a '00 bike, and much of the parts can be hard to get hold
of this early in the model year.

I got hit on my bike, (my fault). Bent the frame a little. Since I was
getting it fixed at a non Harley shop we had to cut the neck off of the bike
and send it to the HD dealer before they would send a new frame. The total
process took about 3 and a Half weeks.
I also needed a new tank. Two tone, that took about a month and a half. I
need a new front fender. It was ordered the middle of May and I have not seen
or heard of it since. Harley tells the HD dealer that ordered it for my shop
that it is in process.
Lucky for me, the fender is not that bad, it only has a few wrinkles in it, so
I can still ride.
Good Luck getting back on the road.

It seems that Harley is falling behind in production of parts.. or the vendors that supply them.. I
know they're * way* behind on FLH* front fenders and try to get a set of 5 gal fatbobs these
days... I'm talkin' OEM here.. Good luck!... glad to hear that your healing ok...
