Dude, Rob man, you might wanna turn off your caps. This bugs the hell
outa some people. You might not get any responses, except for flames.

Personally, it doesn't really bother me. But....

Later and Good Luck.

Swapping to a 17" front does nothing but change your options in tire selection.

Thanks to a friend, I heard that you can change feel and ride with just
adjusting the front tire pressure. Especially in the RR/FireBlade. One or
two PSI and you will be able to feel the difference.

I've got a 17" front on my Blade. The biggest plus is that you can take
advantage of a wider choice of rubber. (Tyres that is, you can still
have your other choice of rubber, even with a 16" wheel) ;)

It wouldn't seem that putting on a 17" front wheel really isn't going to make
that much difference to the handling. My understanding is that Honda
originally put a 16" on the front to speed up the handling as it gives you
slightly less trail on the front - this could easily be counteracted for a
17" by lowering the forks through the yokes by about 5mm, but with the loss
of high speed stability - i.e. facing the prospect of having loads of
slappers or putting on a steering damper. I've thought some of these things
through and have decided not to bother. If your reason for wanting to make
these changes is purely tyre choice, I would recommend the Bridgestone
BT56SS's.

I used the old BT56's on a load of track days last year and they were okay,
but have had the SS's on for the last two months and they have been superb.
Very stable at speed, accurate in the turns and grippy too. Personally, at
this moment in time, I think I'd rather have these than Dunlop 207GPs which
are the other popular tyre choice. I'm off to Snetterton in a few weeks time
so feel free to get back to me and I'll let you know how the tyres do there
if you want.

I too wanted to know about the fitting of a 17 inch front wheel to
the blade, I would also like to know what wheel fits ie: any 17 inch
from any bike or are they purpose built (might seem a dumb question
bu i have not a clue on this one).

I also thought that the fitting of a 17 inch front wheel calmed the
bike down a little, (less likely to slap?) besides giving you a wider
range of tyre choices.

Regards
Tiger

On the CBR900 mailing list (go to my personal page below for info to subscribe) it is explained that an F3 wheel will fit
your bike (depending on the year of your bike) with only spacers needed. Everything else bolts right on. The 17" will do
*nothing* else and that includes fixing the quirky front end. This can only be solved by fixing your rake & trail ala new
triple clamps.
