CBR 600F, F1, F2, F3, F4, F4i, 'F sport', FX and FY.
Now, F (same as F1?), F2, F3 and F4 are 'reasonably obvious', F4i is the
injected F4? What then are the FX and FY models and where does the F
sport (1996-1997 I think) fit into this?
Thanks.
These models were imported into the USA. Yours will probably be
slightly different:

CBR600F CBR 1989 1990
CBR600F2 SUPER SPORT 1991 1992 1993 1994
CBR600F3 SUPER SPORT 1995 1996 1997 1998

2001-2006 F4i.[1] It was derated to second tier in 2003 when the
CBR600RR took it's place. Starting with 2003 the F4i had a bench seat
like the Yamaha YZF6000R.

I'll take your word but more detail might be in order. Was this more
like a Suzuki RF600 or Katana 600

more accurately it went back to the exact same rear end (bench seat,
rear plastic, rear lights) as the 1999&2000 F4

Thanks for the tips. I'm assuming then that the CBR600FY 2000 is
another name for the CBR600F4 (minus the i). Do people have a
preference, for or against fuel injection in the F4? I notice some FI
bikes exhibit poor throttle response in the low rpm range (can get a bit
'grumbly')?
my $0.02 worth.
I would go with the injected model for one reason. Cold starts! It's a
dream in the fall season. The idle speed is automatic as well and just
settles to a nice purr after about a minute or so as you put on your
helmet and gloves. SWEEEEET!
