I have a 2000 CBR 929 rr and have asked around a lot to find out what the
do's and don'ts are for extra performance was thinking of one of those
sports chips that you can get tweaked programs for
anyone had experience with these

thanks

you need one of these www.powercommander.com and get a full race pipe to get
anything out of the 929. Have a look at www.cbr929rr.org for some tips.

Power Commanders are quite nice little items. Sure you
really have a need for one?

Sure, that thing on the seat can always be improved, all it takes is some
training and practice.

So are you saying that you have used all the possible power your 929 will
produce and need more or do you just have nothing better to spend your money
on, not that spending your money on your bike is a bad thing, and I know
that besides performance what much can be done with jap bike.

For extra performance, hmm.

Do:

- Attend MSF training consummate with your comfort and experience
level; then
- Find some like-minded friends and attend a track SCHOOL (not open
practice day) like dP Safety, CLASS, Keith Code, Spencer, Schwantz,
etc.
- Setup your stock suspension for your weight and riding style.

Don't:

- Hang out with jackasses who know nothing but stunting and "racing"
in straight lines.
- Spend too much on gadgetry until the Do's are completed.

I'm sure a PC III or equivalent from Yoshimura will wake up a couple
more horsepower, in conjunction with various other intake and exhaust
mods. What's the point, if you can't use it actually riding the
motorcycle in a closed-course venue?

(Liter sportbikes seem more dangerous to me every day, but then again
I'm on a "back to basics" kick at the moment.)

The quickest path to additional performance from your bike is
tightening the loose nut behind the bars.

You answered well, given the way the question was posed. On the off chance that
he may be a better rider than writer lets suppose he's just not happy with the
snatchy throttle response of his bike.
My Duc suffered from poor mapping out the crate as well.I got some slip ons and
an aftermarket FI chip that make an enormous difference in the weight of the
machine when rolling about the garage and the linearity of throttle response.
I recently put the stock pipes back on with the aftermarket chip and to my
suprise the thing runs superbly. I even like the way it sounds better (though
it may not keep the deer at bay as well).
My Kaw on the other hand made absolutely perfect power outta the box, but I
couldn't leave well enough alone. I piped, filtered, and jetted it and it makes
silly power now. I don't think it's delivered quite as nicely now, but its
still tits.
I'm not any faster on it outside of a straight line, but I do notice I need to
replace tires everso more frequently.
Hey Dan, what became of your "Culprit" in crime?

I think a PCIII on the 954 is a must. After I installed mine, I noticed
more midrange, more smoothness and the ON/OFF throttle feeling was nearly
gone. It makes the bike MORE rideable, improving driveability, which should
be easier on the rider who isn't going to push the bike to its limits. As
for me, if mine were a 754, it would probably be too much! ; )

Ooops...wrong Mike! Thanks for "snooping" for me.

If I go, it will be later in the afternoon, around 3 or so. I can't sneak
away from work in the morning or I would!

John and Mike are going to do Alpine on Saturday, leaving @ 5:30 and hope to
return in the evening. I'm just not up to a 600 mile ride only being out of
surgery for 4 weeks. I am going to Salt River Canyon on Saturday.

You and Mike up for anything on Sunday?

What time?

>You and Mike up for anything on Sunday?

Sure. Out of town. Maybe White Spars?

BTW, I've got 5 days off, like it or not, next Wed-Sunday. Mike's going
to San Diego over the 4th with his parents, so I'd like to find someone
that wants to ride to Alpine/191/180/78 for at least an over nighter.
I'll go solo if I don't find someone. Maybe I can hook up with R1-Brett
in Springerville, once up there. I may even camp like previous years.

Going to leave with 3-5 others at the Chevron at 60 & Idaho about 6:30 am.
You are MORE than welcome to join us!

I'm game for anything on Sunday, just let me know when and where!

I'd like to join you next week, however, I am flying back to WV on 7/2 and
not returning until 7/13. When I get back, I will have two more weeks of
being a bachelor and the family comes back, so maybe we can get together
then. Damn, it sucks missing all these Alpine trips!

Culprit's around. She works rather odd hours these days, as I
understand it. Missed her at the last Adrenaline Freaks day, though
her racing S.O. Paul was there stretching the SV's legs.

Paul moves right along on that SV, validating for about the zillionth
time what fun middleweight bikes they really are, with remarkable
potential considering the (low) cost. He's sniffing around for a new
600, as well. I see "Honda" on his horizon, probably. I'll let him
take my ZX out next time, perhaps. He's ten seconds or more a lap
ahead of me at the moment.
