Thanks,

I wouldn't go near RPM ever again. I had a very bad experience with
those idiots some years back. That was when it was Sims and Rohm, but
either way, the idiot Bill is still there.

Yeah ok... of the 2 most imfamous "motorcycle performance shops" you pick
Rohm Performance. The other one to steer clear of is Bob Behn of RB Racing.
These shops want one thing.....YOUR MONEY and LOTS OF IT. You will be sorry
you every tried to deal with either one of them.
On the other hand Hahn Racecraft might help you , or Bill Vose at the Cycle
Shop in PA.
http://www.turbosystem.com/ for Hahn
http://dragbike.com/thecycleshop/ for Vose
Thanks for the tips and the info.

If there is one word that describes most motorcycle performance
companies.........its called MARKETING!! Keep this in mind the next time you
want an extra 10 HP on your bike.

Eh, long story.
Talked to them at the bike show in December 94. Bill (Aka The A-Hole)
(shop manager or something) said they were thinking of running a 250
in the AFM. Maybe I'd be interested in doing something with them.
Took my race bike (Ninja 250) to them in January 95. Discussed go fast
options with Billy Rohm. He said he could get 1mm over pistons for it.
Cool. We decided on that, new valves, decking the head, slotting the
cams. By this time though they had no interest in running a 250.
A month went by. Nothing. Never once did they call me with any news.
It was always me calling and trying to get info from the "A-hole"
Another month went by. It was now 2 weeks before the first race.
Oh, sorry, we can't find any 1mm over pistons. Ok, go with the Kawi .5
overs then.
Another week. No calls. It's now 1 week till the first race. I'm
getting pissed. 5 days before the race I call again and A-hole
tells me Billy is degreeing the cams. But he's not happy. He doesn't
want to ever work on a 250 again. It's too much of a hassle. Takes
him like 4 hours to degree the cams. (To what numbers who knows)
I'm told to come get the bike the next day.
I go up there and the bike is still on the dyno. Parts are everywhere.
They throw the body work back on. I pay a ridiculous sum for the work
and leave.
At home I check out the bike. There's screws missing, bolts are gone.
Wonderful. These pricks waiting 2.5 months to start and finish the
work.
Rohm tells me "Im never going to work on a 250 again. Don't ever bring
it back here."
Yeah, don't worry.
I break the bike in a bit more with some runs down a deserted road and
race the following weekend. Bike runs good. I go home and check the
valve clearances. Gee, there's a missing locknut on one of the
adjusters. Great. Where the hell is it??? Their garage floor? The oil
pan? Somewhere else?
I call up the A-Hole. I tell him, he gets Billy. His answer?
"Oh yeah, well, on those high revving bikes that happens."
All in all just another sad story in what is all too common in the
so called motorcycle "service" industry.
My advice? Don't buy any of their stuff, and NEVER let them work
on your bike.
