Noted the critisizm of the welding in the previous thread on this bike
NONE of you seem to know much about welding and in particular MIG-or
wire welding. (100440 photo)

Wire welding particularly using Tri-mix or pure Argon as a shielding
gas has a "fat" ropey like appearance with little beading but is none
the less generally a good & fast technique with decent penetration for
welding Chrome molly frames. They could use neater looking Tig (modern
electric Oxy-Acetylene type) welding but at the cost of doubling the
price of making these frames. Being a Welding hobbiest since high
school in the early 60's I know of what I speak on this subject.

Furthermore the Aluminum welds are generally do as machine welding and
these days what we compare the Ducati's to are injection casted
Japanese Aluminum frames. Also note the general quility of the MV
Agusta Brutalle sitting next to the Duc 1098.

Exactly, no Rocky Mountain welds on that swingarm.

Here's a cheapo Jap bike. Notice how nicely the weld is masked with a
little black dye?

I was only speaking of aesthetics. The welds in your pics look way nicer
than the ones I saw on the other 1098.

On the bike I saw there were little pointy peaks on some of the welds.

I tried learning to weld using a cheap Harbor Freight arc welder. After
some practice I decided I wasn't going anywhere near the old VW I was trying
to restore.

Nice japanese welds, very consistent, smooth, and strong.

But what the... the YamaWarrior (or Warraha?) has a belt drive?!!?
What is the world coming to...?! I thought all the asian power
cruisers had shafts or chains. This is a whole new level of
combatting with the patented HD steez.

Yeah, but the Harleys still are adorned with way more chrome while the
Yami just has to settle for good brakes and suspensions. I'll take
that trade anyday though. I can ride that bike for days in the
crudiest of conditions and given 5 minutes with a rag and a bottle of
Honda polish, I can make the thing looks brand new again.

I might have to take a little video tomorrow. I know many here have
no appreciation for just how competent those lil bar hoppers can be.
