For some reason my wonderful computer just 'lost' all the over night posts
on alt.mothers and mk. I did google enough to know that there is a question
about why shaving is not an option for DS at the moment. The reason is that
there is nothing there yet to shave, just a hint of darker hair in a pencil
thin line. One really needs to study him to even see that. So we are
counseling that he wait to shave until there is more there to deal with.

Does he want to shave it? If it's bothering him, and removing it will make
him happier, then he ought to be able to remove it. It might be barely
noticeable to you, but to him it could look like an unsightly forest of
hair!
Maybe he could wax it? :-{

I remember my mother wanting me to hold off on shaving my legs and
underarms... to this day, I don't understand it. She said, 'because shaving
it would make it grow back thicker and darker'. But the truth is - even
waiting a week or month or several months - didn't make a difference in the
end ... i'm stuck doing it forever :-). I believe my mom wanted me to hold
off because she believed (in that irrational kind of motherly way) that it
would hold off puberty.

hair until his senior year in HS, when all the guys on the football
team had facial hair.

If he is uncomfortable with it, let him shave for goodness sake, even if
it only takes once a month for him to look "clean".

I was ready for my own DS to shave for nearly a year before he wanted
to. When he DID shave, he did it privately and cut his upper lip pretty
badly. We then bought him an electric razor which he used for years
until he became more skillful with a blade.

To me, very little looks "ickier" than a dark upper lip on a teen.

I used to not need a bra. Loved it! I can't stand frilly bras...
they're uncomfortable. I usually return home and my bra is the first
thing that comes off. I hate wearing one around the house.

When I was younger I wanted to "fit in" so I wanted to wear one. And
I really did need one before my mom allowed me to wear one.

Same here. I ditched the bra when I was in college. I did have to
find some kind of *undershirt* when teaching high school though.
Sports bras were a little better than other kinds.

you are doing daycare, right? so you're picking up kids, or

For working out, I actually don't care about that. Everyone knows you are
wearing a sports bra and have come to expect the uniboob look however
unattractive. I don't need lift and separation while spinning, I just don't
want uncomfortable bouncing.
