I caught a clip of a mother in America hitting her four year old daughter
repeatedly, which was caught on cctv and has been released by the police who
are looking for her.

Has she been caught yet???

It absolutely sickened me to watch, I hope they catch her - made me run
upstairs and give my baby a *big* hug.

One distressed mother:-(

I caught that same video on CNN. It was just horrible!! I'm not sure it if
was her mother or another relative or a babysitter. But I think she *was*
caught. On CNN, they were talking about the charges that would be brought
against her.

It's her mother as confirmed in the article:

Is there anyplace else to view it? CNN wants me to pay to see premium news
clips. I don't THINK so.

Actually, now I've heard that the hunt is still on for her. Hopefully
they'll catch her. How disgusting.

"I caught that same video on CNN. It was just horrible!"

It was horrible. What was even worse was the girl was attacked from
behind. The ultimate sign of cowardice. I saw the video clip on the evening
news.

It was bad but I have seen worse. Several years ago I saw a videotape of
a babysitter beating a child on the head three times in succession with a
ladel.

But this beating was by the girl's mother and she is only four years
old. If the mother ever goes to jail, and she should, everyone will know
about the case, and she will be at constant risk of vigilante justice.

I was watching the recording to see if there was yelling beforehand,
some sort of commotion or whatever, but there wasn't any on the tape I saw,
no sign the mother was upset with the child before she hit her daughter.

She looked around to see if anyone was watching: that is clear proof it
was premeditated.

Jail! Your kidding, for that? She certainly seems to have an anger
management problem, and did an awful thing, but Jail is slightly an
overkill. She needs anger management, education, instruction and support to
be a better parent not Jail time. I seriously hope they don't rip apart a
family, which will do more emotional harm to her children, by sending the
mother to Jail instead of educating and helping this womyn and family to get
it's shit together.

Jeeper's I'm amazed how sensationalised this has all become. One mother
needs help, her 3 children need help. They do not need the media
sensationalising this, or a vigilaty America wanting to kick her arse.

I agree, Andrea. I just watched the local news, and her attorney reported
(live) that she'll be coming to town in the morning and turning herself in.
The prosecutor is going for the jugular (not surprising, there!)
But, that's his job.

She definitely needs some help.

I found it. It is shocking and horrifying to watch but I don't believe it
was premeditated as some are saying. I mean I don't watch every second as
Garrett climbs into his carseat. Yes. I look around. I think the woman
was already p*ssed off because her con in the store didn't work and when her
daughter wasn't fast enough getting into her seat she lost it. It was too
explosive to be premeditated.
I agree with everything that you say Andrea. Although she will prolly lose
custody of her kids until she does all the things you suggested.

Expect to see the child in Foster Care. They should try to find a relative,
but there will be questions about did the relatives warn her the police were
looking for her for the incident. If there are other children in the home
they will also be removed [may already have been if she ran without them].
While she appears to have a problem there is a huge difference between a
quick angry response and a premeditated assault on a four year old. If this
woman is comfortable with assaulting a young child in a public place what
has she been doing in private? Yes, they need help, but removal of the
child/ren for safety during the provision of that help seems indicated. Of
course, we have very little info here, too.

She's supposed to be turning herself in today (Saturday) in Indiana, with
her daughter.

I was sickened & horrified by the video too - and told my husband not to
watch it if he DID happen to see a news article on it.

From the news stories locally, the family was no help to the police
investigation. And her sister, who was
present at the time of the beating, was arrested (she bonded out last night)
and charged with a felony stemming from "allowing the abuse to occur".

The mother apparently has one other child, and is worried (according to her
attorney's press conference) that she'll lose custody of both children. The
attorney was speaking solely on info from the mother and her family, though.
He's not even met her. Apparently the family hired him, as she was out of
state.
He claimed the child is not hurt in any way, and has no marks or bruises on
her. Again, he's not seen the child, and authorities want the girl to be
examined immediately upon arrival here.

I haven't seen any news reports so far this morning, but I haven't been
looking too deeply, either. I'm disturbed by the media sensationalism atm.

I am bothered by media hyp/sensationalism in general on many topics. Would
you believe, however, that I have not seen this video despite watching local
tv news at 6pm last night and the national news directly after? They
mentioned the search but did not air the video! I was pleasantly shocked!

It was disturbing to see, so lucky you've been spared.
That the prosecutor is carrying on his Hang em High mentality really bothers
me. It shouldn't, since he's prone to overkill, but it still does.

The woman is sick! And, yeah, I do feel she needs at least some jail time.
They will take care of her mental needs there. But, in the mean time, I
don't think she should be just walking around free to grab some other poor
child and beat the tar out of them! If you want to know my initial response
to seeing that clip, it was "Lock her in a room with three good moms for 10
minutes and let her get hers"!

That child didn't even do anything...the video showed them all walking out
of the mall...'mom' was just pissed off cause the store wouldn't take back
some items. So, she literally attacked her child! And, her sister being
right there watching it, doesn't speak well of the sanity of the whole darn
family. Those children should be taken far, far away! They aren't safe
with those people.

I understand how you feel, Barb. And I won't try to sway you. But I'll
just say that the mother's mental needs most definitely won't get taken care
of in any jail. They'll be ignored, at best.

I also don't think society as a whole is in danger from her, or any other
parent like her.
