Faggot tries to abduct boy from karate club

Warning after snatch bid on boy from club

A man tried to abduct a nine-year-old boy after telling him he had come to
collect him from a Chasetown karate club instead of his mother.
The man told the child his mum could not collect him and he had been sent, but
the boy then saw his mother and ran over to her.
The boy had just left an evening karate club held at St Joseph and St Theresa
School in High Street when the man approached.
Parents of pupils at the school, which does not run the club, were due to
receive letters today warning them of the incident.
Headteacher Pat Davies is advising them to be extra vigilant.
She said: "Thankfully the boy did what he had been told by his parents, he
refused to get in the car and ran away. It could have been a different story
and is a lesson to us all.
"We always have members of staff on the gate at the end of the day but we are
reminding parents to be careful.
"The school and home are the two safest places for children, it's just that bit
in between that can be concerning," she added.
Police officers will be talking to the boy today.
Pc Steve Dyke of Staffordshire Police said: "We don't want to frighten people
and are still trying to establish exactly what happened.
"But I would warn parents to make sure they tell children that if they say they
are going to collect them then they will and not to take any notice of people
who say otherwise.
"If anyone approaches them they should go straight back into the school and
tell the teacher."
The offender was seen to leave a Chinese takeaway next to the school just
before he approached the boy.
He is white, in his early 30s, 5ft 10 to 6ft, of medium build, clean shaven
with short hair. He was driving a white H-registered five-door saloon car.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident which happened at around 8pm
on Tuesday, November 19. Anyone with information should call Chasetown police
on 01785 238266.
