Can't comment on speed.
On the IP, I inquired and got this reply (second hand from Giganews):

"The NNTP-Posting-Host: header is part of the standard headers on
posts from all outsourced accounts. (Such as Look Communications)

There is no option for excluding the header.

The NNTP-Posting-Host: allows for more effective blocking and
filtering of spam articles."

So there. Supernews didn't do it. These guys do.
Is their position valid? I don't know enough to say...

nope..

...if overview download speed weren't capped (like supernews' wasn't )
and they had great sporge/spam filters..( like supernews did) Then I
might put up with rest of it..(12+ years of the same email addy will
do that to ya..:-)

..as it is, there's no reason to stay here anymore..I'm paying for a 3
gig supernews account now anyways..

I also just found out they are somehow bouncing ebay account
management emails too..daily status and saved searches emails get
through to my @direct.ca email addy, but user info, email changes,
etc. emails are being bounced back to Ebay..:-(

the raft really is falling apart it seems..
