Does anyone know of a model company that sells a sawmill kit for the HO
scale? I have search many web pages and can't find a single one. I saw an
N-scale sawmill made by Model Power at a train show. Of course, Model Power
does not have a web page!

Thanks, Eric

When you say sawmill kit, you cover a wide area. Walthers make a
sawmill
structure with various related structures; chipper, gondola loader,
truck
loader, debarker, etc. A plastic structure, it can be weathered quite
effectively.
The complex takes up a fair amount of room with the mill proper covering
approximately 12" x 16' by itself.
If your space is limited or you're looking for something more "back
woods"
you might look at Faller's Black Forest Sawmill, about 9" x 7".
European
in design it shouldn't be too difficult to "Americanize" it. OR, for a
little
Ma & Pa outfit with room for additions and personal touches check out
Woodland Scenics' Tie and Plank Mill.
And in craftsman kits Campbell hasa barrel manufacturer and a chair
factory.
Or, check out Keystone, SSL, and Grandt Line for detailing parts and
scratch build
your own. :-)

Good luck.

Eric,

My best suggest I have for you is to go to your local hobby/train store
and ask to look through a Walthers HO catalog. You might find the
'sawmill' you are looking for.

You can also go to the Walthers web site and use their on-line catalog
to search for the item you are looking for. Some of the products listed
have links to photos of the item. If you don't find it under 'sawmill'
try 'lumber' or 'lumber mill'.

Here is Walters URL: http://www.walthers.com/

Good luck in your search.

Keystone locomotive Works makes a fabulous wooden sawmill kit for $29.95 in
HO. Its called the Danby Sawmill. Built inboard by board construction style
(just like you were building a real building) from blueprints. It's not for
you if you haven't built a wooden kit before, but properly done, it can be
the centerpiece of a small layout, especially if you add superdetailing in
the form of sawmill machinery not included in the kit but available from
Keystone - go visit a hobby (train) store that has the Walther's catalog and
you'll see the kit and the extra parts in the back.
Hope this helps

Woodland scenes makes a sawmill part #(785-243) and a tie and plank mill
part#(785-154). Vollmer makes one with water wheel and house. Very European
looking. Part # (770-3793). Keystone Locomotive makes a Danby sawmill with
logs part # (395-111).Ihc has a lumber mill part #(348-709). Faller makes a
nice one with optional motor to drive the saw and water wheel. Part #
272-230) And Walther's cornerstone series sells a whole series of saw mills
and buildings. All the above part 3s are from the Walther's HO catalog.

Lots of choices! Phil.P. Reading,Pa.
