No truer words were ever spoken. I went to Walmart today for my monthly
grocery shopping. I live in New York State and Queen Cuomo has decreed
that we all must wear face diapers indoors and outdoors if we cannot
maintain a 6 feet distance from other virus laden humans.
This edict from the Queen on high has been in effect since April 2020.
Since April 2020, I have limited all my shopping at Walmart to once a
month. Shopping at Walmart was shit during the "best" of times, however,
since the Magic Mask order shopping at Walmart is now super shit.
My local Walmart joined the immortal mask zealots, and changed the
shopping experience to include:
1. Only one door to enter and exit, with a cattle line and a masked
guard outside making sure the virus spittling humans complied with the
wearing of the magic masks.
2. A masked guard inside counting and making sure the virus spittling
humans complied with the wearing of the magic masks.
3. Signs/decals on the floor ordering the virus spittling humans to walk
in one direction and to maintain a 6 foot "social distance" from other
magic mask wearing humans.
All in all, the restrictions could be worse, but let's just say, not
many virus spittling humans have been doing much impulse shopping at
Walmart these past 5 months, including myself.
Fast forward to today -- I get into my battle mode, put on my handmade
brown hijab mask and go for my monthly grocery shopping at my local Walmart.
But...something was different today...the masked guard was gone from the
door, so was the cattle line. The masked guard was still inside, but was
no longer counting the number of masked virus spittling humans. The
signs/decals on the floor were removed. The virus spittling humans could
now walk in any direction they pleased. Even the 6 foot "social
distance" dots were gone from the floor.
What happened?
Queen Cuomo's magic mask decree is still in effect in New York state as
the dreaded Covid-19 second wave is breathing down our throats waiting
to kill us all with one fell swoop. Why remove the restrictions that are
supposed to keep all humans "safe" from the big bad sniffle dragon?
Of course the mask wearing is still required while shopping in Walmart,
but seemingly social distancing, and limiting the amount of shoppers in
the store is no longer enforced. Is it because of the magic masks? With
the wearing of magic masks humans can once again be up each other's
butts with no fear that they will come down with the sniffles.
I knew humans would never tolerate "social distancing." For a
misanthope, such as myself that is the only restriction that made sense.
Oh well, thank God for magic masks, we can all now be "immortal and shit."
