... last night. One of my many crappy dreams.

In the dream some dickhead (male, with sandy blonde hair, never seen him
before in my life), pointed out to me that my animations will never make
anyone laugh, as they are NOT funny.

I replied to the dickhead that my animations make ME laugh and that is
all that matters. I do animations because I enjoy the process of story
writing, drawing and animating. It has nothing to do with the end
result. I expect no one to view my animations, give a shit about them or
make any money off of them. I also told the dickhead my animations were art.

I know my "love of the process only" attitude is against what most
Americans stand for, which is "must have an end result" attitude mainly
money, fame and narcissism. You know the old saying, "it is not the
destination it is the journey." Well for most Americans, it is ONLY the
destination that counts in life. If you can't make money, fame, or get
accolades from the world, then don't bother doing anything.

I have heard the following from many people in my lifetime:

------------------------------------------
You're an artist? But if you can't make money off your art, or get fame
from your art, or get opportunities from your art; then you are not an
artist. You are just a wannabe loser, who sucks at art, I mean the world
has spoken, right?
-----------------------------------------

As I commented to another artist on Usenet a few days ago (and of course
I was ignored):

"I wish more people would create art, such as poetry, paintings,
animations, just for the joy and pleasure it gives them, and not
necessarily for others to partake in. Beauty can come from individual
joy and pleasure. The universe sees that and is happy."

Take *that* dickheads.

Capitalism cares ONLY about results. No time for nuanced things like
"joy". Enjoyment must be purchased or else it's not really real.

Hey, I had a dream the other night maybe you can help me understand.

I was looking out the window at the moon and noticed it kept getting
closer. I'd look away from the window and look back and every time it
was getting closer. It was going to crash into the earth.
But then I looked away again at a bookshelf in the room and noticed that
I had an overdue library book. It was Charles Bukowski's "Hot Water
Music". I went over and picked it up and opened it and on the inside
cover was handwritten that I now owed $36 in fees for this book. The
fees were all broken down like so much for insurance, so much for
processing. It wasn't my writing.
Then I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep so I looked at the
headlines of the local newspaper on my tablet and one of them was "local
library offers amnesty for all overdue books."

I always figure dreams are mainly just our subconscious being a
shithead. Unless you are talking about lucid or semi lucid dreams, then
I think they could be "signs" from the other side or the universe itself
coming through.

Moon dreams are always cool. I have had a few lucid and semi lucid
dreams where I flew from the earth to the moon with the moon getting
bigger and bigger the closer I got to it. I don't know how the moon and
library books relate in your dream.

If you didn't know about the local library amnesty before you had the
dream, then your dream about the library book being overdue was somewhat
prophetic. If only the moon crashing into the earth part was also
prophetic. One can always dream... :)
