OK - So I was able to find the 7i with batteries, chargers, lense -
that whole works the other day - I went out and bought a 8 GB card for
it - and the camera would not read the card - after scrounging around
in the manuel, I find in the specs. that they don't mention any cards
bigger than 1 GB.

I did the latest firmware update since then - I have not been able to
find anywhere on exactly what this update did - besdies making the
autofocus a bit faster - was thier a change that will allow the camera
to read bigger cards - or is thier any plan to do that in the future -
I would love to be able to the biggest card i can - but even the 1 Gig
cards are becoming harder and harder to come by.

Thanks,

Scott

I just found your old post. I have the same camera and have used
it for a few years.

- Where did you get your firmware update?
- Konica/Minolta (when they existed) offered to do a free
recall-type repair for me involving the power switch. I'm not
sure if Sony will still do this.
- Using the best batteries I've been able to get my hands on
(MAHA Powerex), as well as other NIMH batteries, I get very poor
battery life between charges. The camera's charge status
indicators' readings don't make sense. The camera (including the
memory card) gets very hot; too hot for comfort. That's where the
battery juice seems to be going. As I recall, outrageously bad
battery life has been a problem with these cameras.
