I've been trying to find some place that sells the 3600HS flash and can't
find it anywhere since it's been discontinued, but surely there's a
reputable store somewhere out there that still has some in stock. Can
anyone point me in the right direction? TIA :-)

There is a chance that it will be available again soon - Sony lists two
flashes (HVL-F36 AM and HVL-F36 AM) for the Alpha 100 (which is
basically an upgraded Dynax 5D) that look suspiciously like the Minolta
flashes.

The same happened to almost every minolta lens, 95% of the existing
models will be identically re-manufactured simply with a Sony logo.

Thanks so much M and Nicogo. That's good news to hear (about the flashes
being remanufactured with Sony logo). I've never been picky about the name
on the outside, just the function! I've been a fan of KM for years, and it
was just my luck to purchase a digital KM right before they went out of
business, so I have really been stressing about finding a flash for my
camera!

You still need to have a look if the "new" flashes will work with the
existing Minolta cameras, but I doubt that Sony will make changes there -
they sure will try to sell as much as possible and that means to please the
existing customer base.

PS: Of course I did a typo... the flashes are HVL-F36 AM and HVL-F56 AM. The
brief technical description is identical to the 3600HS and 5600HS and the
preview shots look the same as well, except for the Sony logo.

Thanks M. I'm going to try to get in touch with someone at Sony or someone
who has used the HVLs with a KM to double check on compatibility. I did
look into HVLs after reading your post and see that they are using the exact
same shoe, so I'm hoping everything transfers/works accordingly, but one can
never tell, so I'll keep asking around before actually purchasing one.
Thanks so much for your help. :-)

Just a quick update in case anyone else is looking for any discontinued KM
equipment: After all that stressing and searching, I found & purchased a
used 3600HS from B&H Photo (I've shopped with them in the past with good
results). I didn't realize they sold used equipment (MUCH less expensive
than what I've seen on eBay ~ $99 at B&H as opposed to approximately
$250-300 on eBay).

Ahoy!

Plenty on evilBay, but why the 3600HS? There are much better alternatives whether from Minolta, Sony, Sigma, Jessops, Tumax and Metz.
